A/C in vehicles is generally an add on option. Americans nd their A/Cs are wimps and wasters. This year they are changing their songs.
No Problem.I am actually in Selma CA for just this week. I work around Europe and as a result have spent quite a lot more time there. Well does it matter which I use so long as my message is passed?
Sorry for the confusion anyways.
i used to drive cross country quite a bit and, on a trip to Oklahoma, they were SHOCKED that my car didn't have ac. But that was 40 or so years ago. I don't remember a car w/o ac lately. Of course I always buy used so whatever is on them is on them.A/C in vehicles is generally an add on option. Americans nd their A/Cs are wimps and wasters. This year they are changing their songs.
I think we were just wondering where you lived, Todd, since we have members here from Europe, Canada and Australia (who also report their temps in Celsius), and thought you might also reside out of the states.I am actually in Selma CA for just this week. Lots of the early vehicles I owned did not have a/c. I always drove with my windows down. Even when I got one that did have a/c I rarely turned it on...it seemed to dry out my eyes. At some point all that changed and now I only drive with my windows down on the mildest of spring or autumn days.i used to drive cross country quite a bit and, on a trip to Oklahoma, they were SHOCKED that my car didn't have ac. "Wing Vents." With the little push-button spring lock in them.I think that's the same for most of us "of a certain age." I remember those little triangle flip-out windows that could direct the breeze and I don't know why they stopped putting those in cars.
Yes ! Those were awesome, we called them “wing windows” in Idaho. They were perfect for directing cool air right into your face."Wing Vents." With the little push-button spring lock in them.
I can easily do without A/C but SO melts at 76F. Try riding in AL, GA, TX, OK and getting in a traffic jam. Gloves and full face helmet are mandatory.I disagree that Americans are "wimps and wasters." I do like to be comfortable, don't you?
You'd be hard pressed to find ANY new vehicle sold in the USA that doesn't have air conditioning as standard equipment. It is a necessity in many parts of the US, but you can certainly do without it if you please. I can't imagine choosing to live in misery.
I do not ever want to do without Air-Conditioning! I really like all my creature comforts and I hope I don't ever have to do without any of them at my age.I can easily do without A/C but SO melts at 76F. I looks like you need to head to Cornwall for a few days.
France once had the most stable electricity supply in the world, but now they have dismantled many of their nuclear plants for some unknown reason.. It seems to be part of the West's race to commit suicide as a group of cultures. Nuclear does not contribute to "global warming" so it must be some other reason. The government in the UK is going into people's homes and making them remove their air conditioning units because "climate change."
I think they were originally put in to deal with cigarette smoke. At least I read that somewhere. When A/C became common and smoking became rare, the little vents were eliminated. Windows down was referred to as "4-60 air conditioning" in my area.Yes ! Those were awesome, we called them “wing windows” in Idaho. They were perfect for directing cool air right into your face.
