How long does it take for you to fall off to sleep at bedtime?

If this is a repeat, please just point me in the direction
of an already existing thread. Thanks :)

Sleep is a curious topic. Does it take you 20 min, or maybe
even an hour to actually fall off to sleep. OR maybe you
actually, don't ever fall off to sleep.

I've just been evaluating my own life long falling to sleep
patterns, and I can say it's been a mix of changes.

Presently, it generally takes me one hour to fall off to sleep.
BUT that is frequently interrupted about one hour later to
try again. Repeat. Why? Because I have to get up on the hour
to empty my bladder. Been this way for a long time. Or I need
to reposition my body to accommodate my aches or pains lol
OR etc.

Some folks fall off to sleep easier with the help of sleep meds
or other meds. White noise helps me at times.

Anyway, just thinking about it all..

I am a light sleeper.

Sometimes, I read for an hour or three before falling asleep; at other times, I can't make it through a chapter. I don't consider it a problem, either way, because I like having a chance to read.

It just depends on with me. We take melatonin about an hour before bedtime, and usually I just go right to sleep. Most nights, I sleep through the night, but occasionally I wake up around 2 and have to go to the bathroom.
Some nights. Not very often, my brain just won’t shut down, and then it can take me over and hour to finally fall asleep. It helps me to not eat anything close to bedtime, so I try to have my last meal around 4-5 PM, and if I have anything after that, just something really light, so my body is not trying to digest food at night.

I go to sleep fairly quickly, probably less than 30 minutes or so unless I have something pressing on my mind. I fell into a bedtime routine when I was having chemo and could not turn off my racing mind at night. I turn the TV on to the sitcom "Friends".

Somehow watching that drivel takes me back to a better time in the world (the 1990s). I'm usually asleep in a few minutes. After 5 years of this, I can lip-sync all the foolishness but it's still kind of soothing for some reason. I tried switching the TV show to "Madmen" but it doesn't work... has to be "Friends". :ROFLMAO:

I've got my favorite "can recite every line of dialog" reruns, too. It makes me think of little kids who like to have the same damned story read to them over and over and over.

When my youngest son was little, he loved an animated version of Robin Hood. He must have watched that hundreds of times. For years a song that starts out "Robin Hood and Little John walkin' through the forest, ..." by Roger Miller was stuck in my head.

Now I'll have "King of the Road" stuck in my head all day.

My nephew was a Barney addict. Like most well-adjusted adults, I hated that purple bastard. One day my nephew put his well-worn Barney tape into the VHS, hit Play, then went to the bathroom. I picked up the remote and Fast Forwarded as much as I could to get it over with. When my nephew returned and sat in front of the television, then looked at me and said "Hey!" in an accusatory tone. Still cracks me up. He knew.

I just went through that. I got my laptop back but the place installed some version of WIN11 on my system...I had WIN10. I was on a tablet for a week. It showed me how addicted to (dependent on) the web I am.
Hi John, glad you got yours back!

WIN11, that has to be annoying!

I have to get mine in this week and have
It checked out. I’m not technically inclined
and hate when stuff like this comes up.

And my eyes are challenged on this small phone. Arg.
