What's for supper?

Well, I suppose this will make me unpopular, but I like good wild caught ocean fish. Wild caught Halibut or Red Snapper, is my favorite. I don't eat fish because I am to lazy to cook it. I suppose I will get my geology pick out and chip the ice block that has 24 wild caught cold water Cod fillets in it. It is over a year old and I can't ignore it any longer, because my freezer is in serious need of defrost. It looks like an Arctic scene from National Geographic.
Not all of my family will eat fish some will not touch it with a 10-ft pole. I have a strange way to eat Fish. First the fish has to be the breaded type preferably a filet, not stick or cake. I'll eat it with a bowl of spaghetti with tomato sauce. I will coat the fish in tomato sauce, and eat it with the spaghetti with bread and butter.
As I mentioned before you can put tomato sauce on a brick and I'll eat it.

Arby's Crispy Fish Sandwich, Mozzarella sticks for me. Lady friend also had the Crispy Fish Sandwich but with Curly Fries and a vanilla milk shake. Livin' large.:)
I got one of those last week. It's that time of the year...

Didn't taste as good as I recall from prior years. And there's only one fish sandwich versus the 2 choices they usually have.

I am thinking since it is raining and cold, some real cooking. Grilled cheddar cheese and hot green chili pepper sandwich with tomato sauce slightly thinned with tomato juice and seasoned only with sea salt and hot paprika. That makes better tomato soup in my opinion, than the canned stuff that has flour and other additives. It has a nice bright red color. Very MFMGA Make Faye's meals great again. ;)

My wife is trying a recipe that she found online called Mississippi roast, it's really a pot roast. This one's made in the the slow cooker and is a mix of a packet Au Jus gravy mix, a packet of Ranch Seasoning mix, jar Pepperoncini peppers, and a 3-4 lb Chuck Roast, unsalted butter, salt and pepper.
It's in the slow cooker for 8 hours.
She's planning on sides of vegetable, and noodles. (and bread and butter for me)
I hope the gravy will be tasty and the meat tender.

I make that quite often, Tony. We love the flavor of the peppers. Your wife may want to add a little cornstarch slurry to thicken the gravy a bit. Leftovers make excellent open-faced sandwiches with a bit of melted provolone.

So many delicious ways to make a roast in the crock pot! I too, make a sirloin or rump roast in my crockpot with different seasonings, Pepperoncini's, and a bottle of beer. I shred the beef and make Italian beef sandwiches to put on hoagie rolls topped with shredded or slices of provolone cheese. You can also use the juice for dipping your sandwich, if you like.

Not so good for me. The heat from the peppers while it was mild to everybody else for me it was burning my throat. I can eat spicy foods most times but food that is hot give me a problem. These Peppers had a little Heat and I felt it from the first taste of the meat. The noodles were very good so was the bread and butter. Haha that's why my middle name is Carb. I told my wife I prefer using onions or garlic for flavor.

Are you sure she didn’t accidentally use jalapeños or some other hot pepper ? The pepperoncini taste more like a pickle than a hot pepper, just kind of a sour and vinegar taste, but not hot.

That is what I was wondering too @Yvonne Smith but New York folks generally know what pepperoncini are as there are so many Italians there. @Tony Page is it possible a hotter pepper was used?

Thinking about it I'm not sure, I don't have the jar to check it. It might have been the juice the peppers were in had too much vinegar solution. Something was irritating my throat I felt it all night.
