All ID Thieves need is your full name and the last 4 numbers of your social security card. And the more common your name is, the higher the chances of your ID being stolen. The SSA office told us that my sons ID had been stolen by a woman in Oregon, who worked at a school he used to go to over 25 years ago.
That's what I like about the CMS reports they mail out every three months. If there is anything in one of those that I had nothing to do with, I report it immediately.

Our credit card company got hacked and the offered us a year free, then about a month before that year was up Target got hacked, and we got another one. Sweet!
