What Are You Doing Today?

Not allot seeming it’s only 8 am ..on Friday morning ..

I had intended making a sponge cake for my neighbour who’s birthday was last week while we was in Queensland relaxing for my big birthday

But she can’t come today as she looks after her two little grandchildren who are 2 and 4 while their parents work ( the son and DIL x kids have recently had a house built next door ) she’s 60 next Feb …..anyway she’s coming over tomorrow with her hubs instead of today ….so I’ll make the sponge cake x 2 tomorrow , we like lemon …so I normally make a lemon filling ….add that betwen layer ,with whipped cream ….and on top of cake .

I dragged the very old cake tins out yesterday …in prep of making the cake and said to hubs I would have had these close to 50 years
they are willow brand and were called sponge sandwich tins in Australia 🇦🇺

You can just email me some of that cake, Kate. :D:D

My hubs always orders a sponge for his birthday , but he’s got a bit pushy lately …🤣 he’s been ordering a bread and butter pudding ( I make using a bakery bought ….cinnamon fruit bread , not supermarket stuff) as well …..
His birthday is April so he’s got a bit of a wait yet @Beth Gallagher

Hey @Beth Gallagher I've just emailed you a slice of my neighbours birthday sponge I made this morning :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:….thought I’d get in early and put a slice in the post for you as well,:):):)

It’s got freshly made lemon filling …with fresh lemons off my tree …….a bit of the filling on top …..and whipped cream covering ( I put a couple of spoons of the powder instant pudding in cream to stabilise it …) so it shouldn’t get to messy :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: IMG_2332.jpegon its journey to your county

Notice in photo how generous I’m with gifts to the neighbours ….:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: a freshly picked ……..gift wrapped pumpkin ~ outta my garden……after all us older people want useful items ….not extra stuff to clutter our cupboards …the pumpkin weighs just under 3 kg …and it’s $4.95 per kg in our supermarkets ….some of our supermarkets call it Jap pumpkin ..others call it Kent

I made the mistake to go to the post office. A bubble envelope 6x8 1.2 oz Oklahoma City to Atlanta. $8. Yes eight! Some gold plated rosemary.
I was very surprised 😳 at the cost of posting a very heavy item from where I live in a south Australian country town ~

to Melbourne …the capitol city of Victoria that’s 1.000 km or a 10 hour + drive away.
@Marie Miller

I’m on a Aussie crafty / everyday stuff and the lady who runs it …..is a real Elvis fanatic ,she even traveled to the US to see him in concert 🎶 when he was alive …..anyway while I was in Coolangatta ( QLD ) recently for my birthday trip away ,I dropped into one of the Charity shops in the Main Street ..we call op shops ( opportunity shops ) and sitting right in front of me on a table ..was a 612 page book all about every film and recoding he ever done …

for the cost of $8 ….so I bought it with her in mind ….then thought oh no it’s going to cost allot to post …it weighed 1.4 kg …and it cost $15.35 including the post pack ..and got to Melbourne in 2 days …..goodness if I post a letter from here it takes a week to get to Adelaide which is only a just under 2 hour drive away ….i was shocked how fast it got to Victoria …

She was chuffed with the book she’s got stacks of books 📚 but didn’t have that one in her collection …and she insisted on reimbursing me for the cost of the book and the postage

Wow, Kate. I'd love to be your neighbor; that cake looks yummy. Now I've got to go get the Windex to clean slobber off my monitor. I'll keep an eye out for the postman!! 🍰

I just had a bowl of raisin bran. Now I'll have to sleep sitting up so that my GERD doesn't kill me.
I had an MRI yesterday with a contrast dye (trying to figure out this ear issue), and because of a previous mild reaction to the iodine, I have to take steroids and Benadryl before the procedure. The Benadryl knocked me on my butt (but helped me relax in the machine), and I crashed for several hours after I got home. Since I stopped at the Chinese buffet for lunch afterwards and then took that long nap, dinner was 4 slices of cinnamon raisin toast. I think today I'm in Calorie Make Up Mode. The pudding hit the spot...both bowls.

My GERD comes & goes. I had it under control for 2 years using vinegar, then that stopped working and I went to taking Omeprazole every other day for a couple of months. Then I went to every 3 days, then maybe weekly, and now it's been at least a few weeks since I've had to take one. I go in cycles like that for some reason.

What is supposed to be illegal?
Asking for Social Security cards for ID. But I guess it isn't illegal, it's just not recommended. However, even though people can ask to see it, in most cases the SSA says you may refuse to show it but in some cases you may be denied services. But you still need to be careful who you give it to, as the more you spread your social security number around, the more you increase your chances of identity theft.

Guard Your Card (PDF file, "Produced and published at U.S. taxpayer expense.")

"Your Social Security card is not an identification document and, in many situations, you only need to
know your Social Security number (you do not need to show the physical card)."

I think I commented a few days ago that I got 2 letters within a few weeks of each other of databases containing my info getting hacked. One of them was a place that does medical billing for practices, so they have my SSN, my Medicare info, my Supplemental Insurance info, my cell#, etc. The other was from a town I lived in for over 45 years but left in 2010. Since I paid real estate taxes to them and vehicle registration (on top of state & county), they had whatever data they needed for that stuff. You would think they'd archive the old stuff and get it off of the main servers.

I had heard somewhere (here?) that the current Medicare fraud scheme is where the fraudsters get your data and then bill Medicare for in-patient living expenses (hospice care & stuff like that.) I've looked online. Nothing has hit my Medicare account yet.

Both places offered free identity protection services for a year. I've locked down my credit reports and will sign up for those.
