I am really feeling the urge to get out and be creative with some of our outdoor living space. So today I have been busy looking at pictures on the internet of outdoor spaces that I really like to get some ideas. Since we have a small (around 600 square feet) Acadiana Cottage for our home, we really don't have a lot of entertaining area inside. But the outside yard is really huge and there are so many possibilities for setting up a haven for outside entertaining a few or quite a few family members or friends. And to have a peaceful space outdoors as well as indoors. For instance...this is our central view from our porch and the picture below it is a picture I found that I thought would make a good haven area for this view area. I would want to put a swing wih an awning on it in here somewhere and pots of colorful flowers scattered among the plants and some kind of privacy fencing that you could trail vines on. etc. I think that is a fire pit between the two lounging chairs which is something I would definitely want too. I don't want to spend a whole lot of money on things and with some of the ideas I saw I don't think I would have too. It's nice looking out at the big open yard we have but I'd like to make a peaceful haven in here and enjoy our home as much outdoors and I do indoors.
Now that the a duplex has been built across from us it is even more important to me to make us a private sanctuary. I found the privacy screening that we will be putting up hopefully in September with the help of our next door neighbor and former Landlord. Our Landlord now has approved it so we just have to wait to put up until our neighbor comes back from his summer of fishing this September. The privacy screening will extent to his place too. I have also been checking out images of ideas for the sanctuary part and these are some of the ideas I like in the photos below.
All of those look wonderful, and like an inviting place to sit down and relax, @Babs Hunt . Probably whatever you decide will be an improvement for adding privacy for you and your new neighbors. We have been gradually growing more greenery around the perimeter of our yard, too, as well as the sunchokes that are out along the front of the yard by the street. They are only there in the summer; but it the cold and rainy winter, we are not outside sitting in the yard anyway.
I ordered this bistro set a short while ago...we will be able to use it on the patio sanctuary area we make and on our front porch. It was on clearance sale for a very good price that is well within our budget so I'm very excited about this purchase.
@Babs Hunt , with that beautiful tree, you wouldn't even need an umbrella. You can just put in some 12 inch tiles. The chair and table are a nice start. Have fun!
I do need the Umbrella for the area I want to create a sanctuary in as there is no tree shading that area.
