What's for supper?

I'll probably have fried chicken again then freeze the rest. I'm gonna throw out that ALDI macaroni mix. I rarely buy that type of boxed stuff because it usually always sucks. I grab the stuff on impulse so I won't have to make a side dish that is easy enough to make, and I end up wasting my money.

I have fallen for the Aldi pre-made meal kits for the last time. The ones I bought a couple of weeks ago were totally nasty. They always look good in the store, though!

It was horrible. So was the only other one I bought.

Regarding ALDI...I've ranted before about the Artisan lettuces I buy there:

I first encountered these years ago at Walmart, and then Walmart stopped carrying them. Then Kroger had them for a while and they disappeared. Some time later ALDI started to carry them. These have always had a "Use By" date stamped on them. They had the Use By date on them when ALDI initially started carrying them. Then the date was no longer put on the packages at ALDI. I sent ALDI and the lettuce supplier emails telling them that ALDI was gonna trash their market reputation because ALDI leaves produce out long past it's prime as long as some sucker still buys it, and that the lettuce manufacturer should not take part in this by removing the date for this one questionable customer.

So I was in Charlottesville yesterday grocery shopping and bought a pak of this at ALDI, always opening it up to check for freshness. Then I went across the street to Kroger to finish up the rest of my list, and Kroger was started carrying it again. The ALDI packages still lack the Use By date. The Kroger packages have it, just like always.

ALDI has put out press releases specifically to address their reputation for having marginal produce and to assure us that they are "improving." Bull poop.

Buy once cry once.

I break down for that stuff when I am desperate - flavor and texture are missing.

There is a website called ALDI Reviewer where the woman gushes over this lettuce she discovered at ALDI. I just left a comment. If you don't hear from me in a few days, I've been incarcerated for harassment and slander (I tried to say "Some people say..." as much as I could.)

Blasphemy!!!! You get several varieties of some very unique lettuce in a single pak. And the varieties are different from pak to pak. Some look like loosely-lobed oak leaves, while others look like aquarium ferns. I gotta think that there are tons of beneficial phytonutrients in some of those deep purple lettuces.

My weekly lettuce mix is always a 4 pak of this stuff tossed with a head of romaine or red leaf.

If it makes you happy so be it:)
