If you have a DQ banana split, post a review. I partly rejected that option because I wasn't sure how good they are. Mainly, I don't want one with soft serve ice cream.

My husband nixed the idea of a banana split. He said the last time he had one, it was terrible, and it looked a mess. He said he asked the young girl who made it, when did these get so small and expensive, what happened to the regular looking banana split dish, where is the whipped cream, nut topping, and maraschino cherry? She brought the whipped cream can over and added two little squirts. I guess the nut topping was extra and they had quit adding them as part of the dessert a long time ago; nut allergies. She apparently didn’t know what a maraschino cherry was either.

The young worker probably didn’t think she would be getting interrogated about a banana split when she went to work that day. I told him it just might have been that particular DQ he went to, or the young girl didn’t know how to make it. The biggest question I had was when did he have a banana split without me??

Old people ruin everything. I bet the bill was $5.26, so he gave her a $20, a $1 and a penny just to confuse her.

I just learned that Maraschino is a liqueur obtained from the distillation of Marasca cherries from Croatia, and the cherries used to be preserved in it. The modern version is cherries brined with calcium salts (to remove the flavor and color from the cherries), then poached in sugar syrup and injected with red dye. Nothing Natural Added™

I have a jar of maraschino cherries in my refrigerator of indeterminate age. They are likely from the Covid era when we bought the new refrigerator and I started fresh with new condiments and stuff.

I've started writing the expiry date with a Sharpee on the front of cans and jars so I make sure to use the stuff. That article I just read said that the cherries are good for a year after being opened. I have a jar of Calabrian peppers I bought during COVID when I was making homemade pasta. I made one batch of ravioli with them. They were so expensive I can't bear to throw out the rest. They're probably glued to the shelf.
