What "song" are you listening to now?

I just read that this song was written by Bob Dylan, who recorded it but never released it. Manfred Mann released their version a year or so later. I also thought that Manfred Mann's Earth Band was their original name, but it came after the original group disbanded. Manfred Sepse Lubowitz is still alive and kicking at age 85.

Episode opening for the one-season "space noir" anime series Cowboy Bebop. A story of the accumulation of found family, adventure, tragedy, nostalgia, rough past lives, and loss of a member of said found family followed by a drifting apart by those left behind. Lots of comedy in there along the way, a little terror.

The English dub is excellent, nd the story is almost more American than it is Japanese. It has an excellent sound track. Mostly Jazz, blues, and bebop instrumentals but also some song in Japanese, Italian, and English.

A movie was also released that addresses a gap in the timeline of the TV series.

This opening tune has become a popular selection for the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors band as well as many high school and college marching bands.

I'm surprised the series isn't better known. It was shown in regular rotation on cable TV for most of the decade of the 2000s.
