What "song" are you listening to now?

Music and thinking about it can bring back old memories.

I got married in 1980, and we bought a 1980 Honda Accord (a smaller car back then, more the size of a 1990s Civic). The first new car either of us ever had.

We drove over to Grand Rapids to visit her mother and younger sister, and then one of her brothers. From there, on to Coopersville for a high school graduation party for a cousin of mine, a farmhouse back yard event with a galvanized tub of ice full of pop and beer bottles. From there we headed North, I remember the dense fog as we went through White Cloud - headed up the old highway to Traverse City to walk and gawk. It hadn't quite yet been bought up, gentrified, and overbuilt by Detroit Suburbs money yet. It was still a tourist destination for us West Michiganders and the more adventurous of Chicagoans. Detroit Michiganians pretty much paved it all since.

I'm sure most of you don't know those places, but my point is that my ex's youngest brother was a bit of a Parrothead. He had given us a Jimmy Buffett cassette, and during that road trip we more or less learned every song on it.

Ian Anderson was pretty fed up with the agents of London and the Soviets (The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, et al.) for their injection of drugs, promiscuity, feminism, homosexuality, and Marxism into rock and roll. He caught a lot of flack.

His album "Aqualung" is deeply Christian, but it was attacked as "Satanist" (naturally). It is worth a quiet listening all the way through.

Here is its final track "Wind Up."

Contrary to the card at the end of that video, this album released in 1971.
