What Are You Doing Today?

I'm taking my husband to have his eyes laser this morning. I think it is called YAG laser capsulotomy. A procedure on patients that had cataracts formed after cataract surgery. It is common. It will be done in the office and the procedure itself will only take about a minute or less after his eyes has been dilated and numbed. No pain afterwards. He has to wear sunglasses for a few hours afterwards.
You are taking good care of eac( other.

dang, they can come back? Um, did not know that.

Yes. He had his cataracts removed first week of March of this year. Eye doc said it is very common. Cataracts can come back up to 5 years. But. Once you have this YAG procedure, you will never have to have it again. He was in and out of the Ophthalmologist office in no time this morning. No pain and no eye drops to put in. He will be good as new as soon as soon as his dilated eyes snap back to normal. The numbing medicine has already wore off and he can feel his eyeballs again.:D

We rode out to the cemetery to put fresh flowers on MIL's grave. We bought some gorgeous fall florals last week at Hobby Lobby, plus a small stuffed scarecrow. My MIL always loved seasonal decor and went all-out for holidays. I miss her very much.

The flowers we put there a couple of months ago were still pretty, so I moved them to a grave that didn't have any flowers. Then I pulled a few weeds and 'spruced up' around the headstones. The caretakers keep the place mowed and tidy, but there were a few stragglers that needed pulling.

We are under a heat advisory so we'll be staying in for most of the day. I got the patio plants watered and that's all I'm planning to do outside.

Have my usual load of laundry going. The excitement around here is palpable. :D

Yesterday before leaving the farm, I went wading into the garden to see how to plan my attack. I want to take all the weed seeds before they spread where I don't wan them to go and find what I need to harvest that rabbits don't like. I gently dis entangled some cucumbers and checked out what tools I would need in the morning.
This morning there was a heavy rain pouring before I got up. It was so dark I overslept. So I guess I am cancelling my plans and thinking of housework.

Amen to that!! What did people do before antibotics; die! :(
Yep, they often did.

The issue I have with Cipro is ligament and tendon damage. I was given it years ago, and have suffered with weak connective tissue as a result, or at least I attribute it to Cipro since it is a known side effect. Like @John Brunner I suffered a reaction to a relative of Cipro (Levofloxacin) and won't take that class of antibiotics if I can help it.

@Krystal Shay have you tried some of those cranberry compounds as a UTI preventative? Not all of them are effective, but there is at least one that I have seen to work effectively. It is Cranberry by Wild Harvest out of Oregon. Some people have found strong black tea on a regular basis to work as well. The theory as I understand it is that tannins in the urine prevent bacteria from attaching to the bladder and urethra wall. Repeat or long-term antibiotic use can lead to the development of resistant strains of bacteria making subsequent infections more difficult to treat.

Well, I was able to plant the two little shrubs that I bought yesterday. Was done by 8:30 this morning before it was too hot. These little projects have come to be my quotidian reminders that I am old. I will be 80 very soon, and things, healthwise, will not get any better. But when I visit my friend at her assisted living facility, and see how bad other folks have it, I know I shouldn't complain at all.

There hasn’t been too much I haven’t tried, Don. I am pretty disciplined about what I do too. That is what is so frustrating. I have been taking cranberry capsules daily forever it seems like. I read one should take cranberry capsules that have PAC in it (proanthocyanidins). I have not tried that cranberry brand you suggested but, I will give it try. Adding it to my cart. In the past, I was a big tea drinker (hot tea) using only local honey in my tea. I don't drink black or green tea as much now as I use too. Maybe I need to start that up again too. Tannins! Tannins is in wine too, isn’t it! Maybe I need to start drinking more wine! :DI usually only have a glass of wine once in a great while.

I have been in Health/UTI forums where ladies have said they are in their 80’s and some in their 90’s that still get UTIs. Most of these ladies never had any UTIs until after menopause, also. I am not as bad as a lot of ladies (or men) who get UTIs 2 or 3 times a year. I guess I shouldn’t whine about it but, I have never had a single one before menopause. It aggravates me to no end that I can’t whipped this.

Antibiotic resistance is one of my biggest worries with having UTIs!

The weather was finally a normal hot this morning with “only” sticky humidity, so I went to TSC to load up on a month’s supply of horse feed and three weeks worth of dog feed.

I knew they would be well stocked as the Celebration starts on the 26th and the store will be continually packed full of people needing things for their horses for ten days at the show grounds.

This store has a miserably small parking lot, where even my little Saturn has trouble getting in out. The entire parking lot is also on a downhill slant toward the four lane highway. It is not uncommon for a loaded flat buggy to get away from someone and roll out of control either into another vehicle or go tail end over tincups into the busy street.

There is another nearby TSC in the next county over, but they never keep fresh product and they never have the feed I need for the chubby horse. They cater more to the cul-de-sac folks as opposed to the livestock folks. Plenty of chicken product but chicken can live on a lot less and in smaller backyard spaces.

Anyway I was home by 10:30 and I was ecstatic—- home that early chaste and unscathed and I have enough horse feed to keep me out of the good TSC until all the wealthy horse show people leave town🤠🤠

Red wine has tannins in it. I can't say much more. Look into anything that has changed physically since menopause, such as underwear changes or the way you dress and what you do daily. Can't do too much about hormone changes, but that may have changed the pH of your urine and made it more bacteria friendly. Maybe, like @John Brunner you have some stones forming that may be giving you issues. It seems odd that nobody can find what is causing the repeat UTIs and just keep giving you antibiotics. I am sorry for your troubles, @Krystal Shay.

The generator acted up. Technician One shook his head and referred to factory technician. It took him 15 minutes. He gave SO installation instructions and installer codes and how to order a 900$ part on Amazon for 300$.
