What Are You Doing Today?

I am wet hen mad. Power canceled the ‘peak point use of generator’ rate a couple of years back. Fine. SO just got done servicing Mathilda, the generator, when she came on. No outages just insane temperatures. No ‘we will need” or anything.

I am doing laundry and some ironing, and then not much else.

I don’t feel well today. I got a UTI a couple days ago. My GYN prescribes an antibiotic for me at every yearly visit so I can have it with me, since I am so nervous about getting a UTI in the middle of the night, or if I am away from home. My Gyn prescribed a new antibiotic last time. I have never taken Cephalexin before. Like most antibiotics, it doesn’t make me feel very well. I have whined about getting UTI’s in the old SOC so I won’t complain about it anymore; or at least I will try not too.

It is raining today. We were supposed to get our new roof on today but it is raining and there is still a change of rain the rest of this week. So now it looks like next Tuesday the roofers will try to make it happen; maybe.🤞

I had my share of UTIs when I was having bladder issues, and some of the exams would leave me with an infection. I've been through about every bladder antibiotic there is (including a maintenance one I took for a year.) Fortunately, they all seemed to do the trick.

Do they upset your stomach? Has your doctor told you to take probiotics when you take antibiotics? UTIs are miserable to get.

Yes, Antibiotics makes my stomach hurt and my whole body feel generally bad. I take probiotics every day. It seems like most all antibiotics kicks my 🫏. I don’t have much choice but to take them. I have an adverse reaction to the two antibiotics that are normally given for UTIs. I usually take Cipro but I was getting concerned about taking it at my age. I wanted to try a different one hoping I would never have to take it but, here we are.😖

Oh my gosh, I can not imagine taking antibotics for a year, like you did! I know that there are people that have too though. We do what we have to do.

I had a colon infection years ago and found out that I have a mild allergy to Cipro...but in order to clear up infections that far into the digestive tract, the dose has to be pretty high.

The antibiotic I was on for so long was Macrobid (nitrofurantoin.) I spoke extensively in SOC v1.0 about my dead bladder, being forever cathed, and the bacteria-caused crystalline structures that are formed in my system. The Macrobid is prescribed long term as a prophylaxis for this kind of stuff, because it only operates in the bladder and does not affect the gut biome. It started losing its efficacy after about a year, at which point my urologist put me on a compounded antibiotic that I instill directly into the cath, so it's not metabolized at all...it's internally topical.

The only thing worse than having this stuff would be not having a remedy.

First stop this morning will be at the local nursery to pick up a couple of replacement plants. I almost never go in or out of the front door - I pull in the garage and enter the house thru the laundry room - but yesterday I bit the bullet and trimmed the shrubbery out front and both sides. While doing so I noticed one of the shrubs I planted a couple of months ago had died, and the one next to it doesn't look very good, so they both gotta go. The are both small, so it's not a big job.

Second stop will be at my lady friend's to hook up her cable TV. They moved her to a different room a couple of days ago and did not take care of that for her. Apparently there is only one maintenance guy, and he's really busy. Yesterday I installed a shower head (it was missing) and a couple of towel rods (ditto). Small stuff that I can still take care of.
