I experimented and now grow Purple Jalapeno for it. They will eventually turn red and a couple will be allowed to do so at 5 end of the season for seeds. https://peppergeek.com/purple-jalapeno-pepper/
Can you please elaborate about your relish?
This afternoon I will get to play with pepper/onion/carrot pickles. Kind of popular with pulled pork at SO’s play dates.

I use a standard cowboy candy recipe but I cut the sugar by 1/3 and coarsely grind the peppers and such. I found the suggestion on a YouTube channel called 1870 Homestead where they said they switched to relish from slices as it was easier to use it in a variety of dishes, especially things like hot dogs, brats, and burgers. I am not partial to jalapenos, and I grow a variety of other peppers (all in a greenhouse as the climate is not warm enough here to grow them outside. I do use jalapenos when I have them in abundance, but usually mixed with other easily-grown here, such as the Hungarian wax and Black Hungarian. My favorite is the Sugar Rush pepper, a pepper from Wales that seems to be a cross of a sweet pepper with a Habanero. It starts with sweet notes, then BAM! it lights your fire. I also have a pepper that I selected that I call Early Red Chili, as it is one that grows very reliably in cooler temperatures. I am sure my recipe is not much different than yours, but I use a variety of peppers to provide a rainbow color that looks good on the shelf and pleases my taste better than straight jalapenos.
 
I was gonna go out and do some much needed yard work (trimming overgrowth around the house and garage), but after getting up at 8am yesterday I didn't go to sleep until gone 2AM...so I overslept and then putzed. We have a week of predicted storms coming up, but we'll see how that materializes.

It's supposed to start raining later this evening, but as I drove about 4 miles due west to Walmart earlier it was coming down so hard I put my wipers on High and still had to slow down. Yards were already flooded. It came down hard most of the way there, the entire time I was shopping, and while I went across the street to get a sub. I got soaked. I drove home and it was (and still is) dry as a bone here.

This has been the weirdest stretch of isolated violent weather.
 
We spent the morning trimming hedges and raking up the trimmings to bag them for trash day tomorrow. 🪴 I am the "designated trimmer" because my husband has no talent when it comes to trimming shrubs so I don't let him loose with the electric trimmer.

It is still and hot outside, but at least the front yard is shady in the mornings. Seemed like most of our neighbors were outside doing stuff... washing cars, mowing, weeding, etc., so a lot of hollering and joking to each other.

Next door neighbor made the stale joke that when I got done trimming ours, I could head over there and do his, too. I revved the trimmer and told him I could trim his mustache.

Now I'm all hot and sweaty and I'm thinking about getting in the pool for a little while.
 
SO gave Lady Banks a severe hair cut. All pots are watered. Need to harvest tonight. Dough for hamburger buns is almost done. Lunch at 13:00 with reheated burgers and rabbit food. Ironing and putting up pickles for next weekend’s play date. Long hot tub and happy hour on the patio with nice company.
