What Are You Doing Today?

Coffee! Then the morning damage assessment. I even closed all windows last night. Izzi is being prissy this morning and we are on can #3 without success. She baked biscuits on my stomach this morning which has never happened before. Little fluffy is missing her man!
Starlings are bringing "furniture" to the nest boxes outside the office window.
I ate 1/4 of the flamme kuchen that was intended for the freezer. It was sooo good. Today it will be spaetzle and tagliatelle for the freezer. That speeds up dinner considerably plus I am trying to get away from commercially produced pasta.

It's afternoon almost 3 o'clock.

My oldest son came over this morning needing help with his new phone. He couldn't remember any of his passwords or couldn't find his list so he couldn't pass any of the security questions to verify 'it is him.' After unsuccessfully trying different ways, I finally used the guest user on my laptop and updated his profile to where he was able to access the internet.

Then we headed back to Lowe's to find a lawnmower blade because I had measured it wrong way per Youtube. No luck there so we went to Home Depot, no luck there either. On the way home I decided to stop at Ace Hardware. I said today is a good day. The staff there were so helpful. He told me that he only found the lawnmower but there wasn't any replacement parts listed. He suggested Ebay or Amazon. Picture this, with puppy eyes and a sweet smile I asked if he could 'save' my blade. He said he could try but wouldn't be responsible if it broke in the process. A few minutes later he brought it back straightened and sharpened. Woohoo!

Going to head out to the garden and pull out allot of the pumpkin vines so I can plant winter veggies like silver beet I’ve started in those jiffy pots
I’d also like to plant some onions my garden is never without onions 🧅….and for some strange reason no parsley has come up in my garden this year ….it always comes up after a rain ( the Curley type) but no sign of any ,so I bought a packet of seeds yesterday

Transplanting all afternoon and I have got all the cole crops up-potted. I have to start the rest of my cucumbers--the outside varieties--and then on to squash--summer squash first then the winters and pumpkins. I use soil blocks for the cucurbits as they transplant without shock that way. Peat pots can also be used, but they do not work so well in our cold, bacterially lacking soils. We got the seed potatoes Wednesday, but haven't put them in buckets yet. We are not doing the potatoes in the ground this year as there are only two of us and the buckets are much less work.

Well, today I went to check out another clinical trial. I got a Fibroscan, a complete exam, a urinalysis, an EKG, psychological testing and 17 vials of blood drawn. Next up is a MRI, but luckily I won't need a liver biopsy for this one until much later. I'll know by July if I get into the trial. It was a long day.....6 1/2 hours there. The trial lasts for 7 years; we'll see if I live that long....LOL.

I hope I get in. I'll get a lot of nutritional and exercise counseling and, apparently, a subscription to a meal plan for a while.

I have a 66% chance of getting the "real thing" and not the placebo. Usually, it's 50-50.

And the pay is good, too. I'm in it for the help with my liver and to lose some weight, but the money helps, too.

Mary, I hope you get in, and if you do, I hope any treatment you receive is not unpleasant. I don't know if you have shared your health issue but it sounds like a liver issue? (Apologies if you don't want to share.)

I was offered a clinical trial when I started treatment for cancer but I declined. I was terrified of normal treatment and didn't want to take chances on getting a placebo. I wish you the best.

It's shaping up to be a beautiful day here today. The calm before the storm. Monday afternoon to evening we are supposed to have some severe weather. So today, I'm going to try and do a few things outside and enjoy the day; for awhile anyway. I might need a nap. :D

SO called at 5:30 so the sofa lion decided it is time to get up. Coffee, pizza, the usual round of “is all well texts”, yard looks like a mine field with gladiolus coming up everywhere.
General dashing through the house.
