What Are You Doing Today?

I've not seen evidence that's what this bird is doing. One of my next steps is to get some weatherproof material to cut a shape out of to fit over the mirror, but as I said before, putting a plastic bag over it just made them perch on the window ledges and crap over the entire side of the car. I wonder if I could get a fake different critter and put there. Maybe tiny cats might confuse it enough to stay away.

They probably see the reflection of themselves in the windows too. I know it can be hassle to take off and put it back on when you need the car, but maybe a car cover? 🤷‍♀️

Real cats might work. They like to lay on top of cars. ;):D

I have wondered if it was going to the windows as an alternative when I covered the mirror. I think I'm gonna refine the fake bird mounting...it seems to keep the bird distracted & busy. And it's solved a large part of the problem.

What if you provided them an alternate perch nearby, like a trash can or an old chair? With a feeder maybe.

I have poopers flying into my garage and leaving their "calling card" in random places.
It's perching in the tree by the car and on a nearby firewood rack, then swooping down to the car. There are lots of trees, bushes, etc around here. I'm on over 50 acres surrounded by wooded properties.

I've had bird feeders set up. It brings in swarms of them out here in the sticks. I didn't have any bird poop issue until a few years ago and this bugger moved in, except for splotches on the top of my car where the birds would fly over it to & from the tree.

Im catching up on cloths washing , mainly hand wash only cloths I wear to dances …..don’t have anything frilly or over the top ..just knee length skirts I like to hand wash rather than mess them up by throwing in the washing machine ….
I’ll give give my dancing tops a light spin in the front loader after washing / rinsing in a plastic container I’ve got for hand washing
They are basically a t - Shirt style top with a little bling on them up by the round neckline

I used to buy my tops from a shop called Nonib , it and many other stores like Rivers ( who sold shoes and outdoor clothing ) Millers who sold older style cheaper versions of Nonib clothing ….Rockmans much the same ……then along came Covid ….when ever man and his dog were ripping of customers …including Nonib … which was after hours nighttime / ladies ware ….clothing store…..

( who was also selling hand sanitiser for $35 a Ltr) during Covid …. I was …. one of the unfortunate mugs who got burned by them purchasing / scare mongering…..sales ….of hand sanitiser ….lost $70 as they simply refused to refund customers ….didn't supply the ordered items …..they did post some sanitiser but it had very little alcohol content …so it was useless ….so they all closed after receiving a substantial fine for misleading the public…$630 .000

So i take care of the tops I have by , hand washing …. that will see out our dancing days

Nonib outcome for robbing customers ….durning covid …I mentioned up here ^^^

Mosaic Brands, owner of Noni B and other retail brands, paid $630,000 in penalties for false and misleading claims about hand sanitiser and face masks in May 2021. The ACCC found Noni B marketed sanitiser with 17% alcohol as 70%, and another brand sold sanitiser with only 58% alcohol.
ACCC +3
Key Details of the Penalty:
  • Misleading Claims: Products were marketed as having 70% alcohol and being "WHO-approved".
  • Actual Content: One product, "Air Clean" sanitizer, was tested and found to contain only 17% alcohol, falling far below required safety levels.
  • Additional Issues: The company also made false claims about CE/FDA certification for children's face masks.
  • Penalty & Action: The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued five infringement notices, to address the misleading COVID-related product advertising.

We had gully washers last night. SO left in that mess to go to his play date.
Need to get the extra bird feeder out and put it under the covered patio. Several batches of caramelized almonds with a hint of Thai Pepper for friends and a box with no heat for Mumsy. There is a stack of filing not going away:)

Today marks a week that I have been displaced from my home because of lightening striking the tree in my backyard severing a huge branch that downed the power line to the house. I have been staying at my son's house since. I am thankful. Working to coordinate arrangements with an electrician and for tree removal hasn't been easy last night I just felt an overwhelming sense of 'just wanting to go home' but I can't accomplish any thing there right now.

I believe that everything that happens in life has a reason, a purpose, a revelation and always a resolution. So I sit back and keep alert because it's not just about being without power or being away from home.
I just saw you reference this catastrophe in another thread, Von. I'm really sorry to hear this, but grateful that you escaped [physically] unharmed.

And I agree that everything happens for a reason. Out-of-our-control events like this sometimes force us to sit back are take stock of our life priorities. You are wise to be alert for what to take away from it.

I got up this morning, went downstairs for coffee, and got mad at myself. Yesterday I had prepped strawberries and made whipped cream for strawberry shortcake. I guess I put the containers on the kitchen counter and went to bed; they were still sitting out, unrefrigerated, when I found them this morning. 🤬. So into the garbage disposal with tonight's dessert. I really get on my own nerves lately.

After coffee I went outside to check on all the plants; it is so windy that a lot of things keep getting turned over. I found some tiny cucumbers, some as big as my index finger, on the vines. I did some watering and trimming and came back inside to escape the wind and humidity.

Now I'm watching the documentary about the polygamist and it is really disgusting. Seriously... disgusting. It's called "Trust Me--the False Prophet" and is on Netflix.

After coffee a quick trip to the bank then checking damage in the garden. Hose broke at the manifold during yesterday’s storm and the water was on. So a gorgeous 10 foot fountain in the middle of gully washers. I am dreading the water bill.

Maybe you can go to the water department and have your water bill adjusted.

Went to a lab location, sat for an hour, then had some blood drawn. Routine. If I had used their new appointment process (and got there right on time) then it would have been quicker. Biggest hassle? New location and I missed the entrance first time around the block.

Zip, zap, right out once they called me in.

Now finishing some laundry.

Exciting times here at the Honeycomb Hideout!

I worked outside more today than in some time. The weather was warmer--up to 49 F.--and the snow is melting big time causing large puddles and small lakes all over. The old milk parlor is flooded, so I got a pump out and tried to pump some of the water out and down the hill a bit, but finding a suitable hose, or group of hoses, to use became problematic. I ran the pump for a few hours and the water level decreased some, but it will refill as the snow melts. I brought in another bale of potting mix, and cycled some of my older stored gas into my old truck to try to use it up. I hope that wasn't a bad thing since the truck started acting up again. I will look into it further tomorrow. I transplanted some more peppers into larger pots since we have more shelves and lights set up. I am toying with starting to plant greenhouse cucumbers this week...we'll see.

Yeah, snow long gone here but the soil is still pretty saturated. We've had periods of heavy rain and been left with ponding here. At the moment the surface is "dry" - damp yet, but no visible water or sticky mud. Might be worth trying to get some shady mix grass seed and try again. Last year it came up but didn't make enough progress to survive.

Tomorrow my first whole SS benefit payment arrives. 22% withholding, almost 1/4, I hope it covers the taxes. Checking my records I see I started paying FICA contributions in the 1960s at age 14. It's ben a long road since I first got my Social Security Card.

I remember when my boys were young we got theirs pretty young, like at 2 years old or something. Now I guess they do it in the hospital right after birth or something.

Taxes filed almost a month now, everything accepted and payments accepted. So I have my final figure confirmed. Sure enough, looks like next year I'll be hit with higher Medicare premiums due to crossing the 1st IRMAA cliff. Singles get his pretty hard.

They sure chomp and nibble every corner of this earned benefit.
