What Are You Doing Today?

yes I did. It is a small (100 unit) local facility, and they only do independent living. No assisted or memory care, which keeps costs down. It was built in the 70s (I think) but is in good shape. Everything is on one level, and the units have a small patio.

The down side to "independent living" is that they do not give any sort of medical support. If you fall down, they will call 9-1-1 to help you up, but they are not allowed to help you themselves. You have to manage your own meds, etc. I consider it a small apartment with room service every day. It doesn't seem like it would be a good fit for someone with extreme medical issues.
Her mental issues may keep her from being a candidate. I imagine that she will not go quietly.

I've probably not been very clear. She belongs in either a skilled nursing facility, assisted living, or memory care facility. The professionals will need to determine which one. Of course, she doesn't think that is necessary, which is why I have to use the legal system to get it done. Once she is settled, then I will need to sell my current house, which may take a year, and then I will move into an independent living facility. It's messy.
You can do it. One step at a time. Have you gotten the legal responsibility figured out?

The "independent" facility is not an option for her. That's for me later

Per the lawyers, I have zero legal responsibility.

Just puttering around today. I need to get some cucumber seedlings transplanted and do some cleanup around the pool. Yesterday evening some landscape guys trimmed our palm trees and an oak that is hanging over the back fence, so there's a lot of debris to deal with. They hauled off the big stuff, thank goodness.

I need to get busy washing windows but there is a definite lack of enthusiasm about this. :D.

Yesterday = nothing, except vacuum up some of those fake lady beetles.

It’s going to be close 80° today. Both my horses still have an appreciable amount of winter fur. 80° is not our normal temperature this time of year. They will be hot.

I just spent two hours in the barn cleaning a winter’s worth of hay droppings out of the barn aisleway out so I can run the barrel fan. It should’ve only taken me about 50 minutes, but when you have the cane in one hand and run the pushbroom with the other hand, it takes two hours.

As soon as Duncan saw the fan, he stuck his head over the aisleway gate. That told me he’s excited to have it on. I keep the barn fans on industrial timers so they don’t run 24 seven. I have it on a low setting and that should be good enough for now.

Also, for the ladies who might be reading this that are doing work to where you have to get down on your knees and can’t get back up. Don’t feel like the Lone Ranger. How I hate this. I have to be down on the cement in the garage to get the flat tire off of my four wheeler, which has been sitting there flat since last fall. There’s a whole Nother story that I won’t go into.

At any rate, I am going to buy myself an industrial pair of kneepads. The kind the professional mechanics & body shop folks use. I don’t care how much they cost. I do not want the fluffy ones that WalMart might sell. I want something that works that I can drag around on my knees from one end of a piece of equipment to the other because how many times I have to get up and down is at a premium these days😳😂

I was going to run the trash and run to town, but I will let that wait for another day. I’m already dirty/sweaty, I might just as well stay in the house and deep clean so when my much younger brother gets here from NE Ohio, he won’t think I’m ready for the nursing home 😂😂

What DID you do today? I ain’t did nary a thang so far.
But:
I’m thinking about stuff which I suppose is actually doing something but since no one can actually see me doing much of anything it’s deemed by outsiders that I’m doing nothing. Wrong again says I !

That lawn needs its first mowing and so does that little pasture I take care of. And yeah, the back yard needs some springy type of sprucing up so maybe I’ll jump up pretty quick and take care of that or….I’ll keep thinking about doing it which to me is half the job. Can’t overthink a job like mowing the lawn. It takes planning.

Okay, by the end of the day I WILL have mowed the lawn, moved some stuff around in the back yard and shop and will have mowed that grass and then the pasture.
I will also have kinda cleaned up the front porch and put down a new 8’x10’ outdoor rug on it.
Anything else will be honey-do’s which will keep me from doing anything else I might have thought of doing or in the case if the Queen of the house forgets to give me her hand picked chores, I might just sit on the porch, in my rocker and think some more.

I'm doing laundry. There is always laundry of some kind to do it seems like. Ialso made a trip to Kroger to pick up a few things and went through the carwash, while I was out. I should have washed the car myself because the car wash did a 💩 job! Finish line car wash use to do a pretty darn good job. They closed it down some months back for a few days claiming they were doing some route maintenance. When they opened a few days later, the prices went up and the quality of the car wash has went way down tremendously!! My car was still dirty after I drove through it. I guess I will have to start washing my car myself again.

Weekly Kroger shopping this morning, dropping a cool $200 as has become the usual. Somehow that grand total never bothers me as much as looking at the candy bars at the register and seeing that the Snickers bars are two for $3.00. My girlfriend and I used to, sometimes, take the quarters our parents had given us for the school lunch and each buy 5 candy bars for "lunch."

I hear the distant sounds of procrastination in your post🤠🤠

I am the only person I this house, yet I have more laundry than three people .

Funny you mention car wash. I looked at my car on the way to the barn (it’s too far to walk back up hill all the way), and thought to myself you need washed. Should I let one of the local car washes clean you up? And I thought no, I can’t afford it and I doubt they would do a decent job.

I have not washed it yet, but I have dawn dish soap at the barn and a very long handled scrub brush, so at some point between now and Sunday I will fill a bucket with Dawn dish soap and cold water. Wash the car down and let it air dry.

This from the person who used to be so anal about cleaning a car that I scrubbed it with a toothbrush and then I waxed it. That was an eight hour job. Now I get upset if I’m not done washing the poor thing outside in 15 minutes. Then there’s the inside that we won’t talk about………

I did some running around this morning and ended up at Walmart along with half the county. I picked up a small Cherokee Purple tomato plant ($5 for a 4" tall seedling what the hell), a few packs of seeds, and some grocery items.

I dropped off a package at UPS; returning some Earth Shoes sandals that were so stiff and scratchy I knew I'd never wear them. I have long since stopped wearing shoes for vanity; I'm into comfort these days.

I got 2 loads of laundry done then headed outside to plant my tomato plant, as well as some green onion seeds and chives. I need to get some thyme seeds in a pot, too, though I might try starting those in an Aerogarden.

Not much else going on around here. I wish the Housekeeping Fairy would drop by and clean this house for me.

I was the same way with my car. It had to be clean! I washed and waxed it all the time; cleaned it inside and out. The windows had to sparkle. My brother is the same way. I guess we learned it from my dad who was always washing his car. 🤷‍♀️ I just can’t wash my car like I use too. But....my half ass job of washing my car is still better than the wash I got today though.

Your onions will be ok, but I doubt any of us are done with heavy frosts yet, The tomato plant may need covered.

If you can catch the Housekeeping Fairy, please send her my way, Ahen she’s finished at your place 😎

Yesterday was military day at Kroger affiliate here. Bought stuff for Easter dinner, so the bill was a bit more than usual. My time is pretty much taken with the planting chores and everyday stuff. I still have to fix the heater in my truck and take it for a test drive to youngest son's house to be checked out in a warmer atmosphere since his garage is bigger than mine and can fit the truck plus he is off work today. Still below 0 F. this morning so I may have to rig up a small electric heater in the truck cab to keep the fingers from freezing.

Connie, I'm in Houston. It's supposed to be 90 degrees tomorrow. 😓 I've had bush tomatoes in the ground for a couple of weeks. I just wanted this little Cherokee Purple even though the price was ridiculous.

Got a commercial stain sprayer, pepper and tomato plants, a Cinch Rodeo shirt to go with SO’s going to the doc pants, a sleeveless fishing shirt for me at a ridiculous price, baking apple, raisin cinnamon rolls for a neighbor’s birthday breakfast. Drunk raisins and he is a sweet tooth like no other.
