We Have Birthdays!

Thank you. I'm not enthusiastic about being 70 and it is hard to believe we're 26 years past Y2K. But I'm glad to be here and I guess I got my present: Social Security finally gave me a figure for my first-ever benefit payment.

I also got a tentative dealer bid on my car out of the blue that isn't too bad. Not that I'd settle for that, I'm sure I could squeeze another $700 or so. I'm not in the market but they said they'd honor their price even if I wasn't buying another car from them. It's nice to have an asset that hasn't depreciated all that much in 8 years. Between the pandemic years and turning into muh more of a homebody, my mileage on the car is exceedingly low. Always a plus when selling.

When I was working outside of DC, I had a 3 mile commute and tons of stores within a mile of me. Now I'm in the sticks, Walmart is a 16 mile round trip and a decent grocery store is 50 miles round trip. I put tons more miles on my vehicles now than I did when I was working, but the driving is a lot more pleasurable here.

Happy Birthday, Von!!!!!!
Let's get this party started!!!!
