Trump now threatening leaving NATO

I really don’t think the countries where we have Posts and Bases understand the total financial impact it would have if Trump pulled those assets out.

Many years ago, Las Vegas and the surrounding towns had some kind of ought with Nellis AFB and didn’t think getting rid of the base would have any impact on them.
So, just as an experiment, someone came up with the idea of paying everyone on the Base in $2 bills for a few months so each city and town governments could get a visual on how much money military personnel actually spent.
Long story short, Nellis is still there.

Now, what I’m suggesting is that our Government do something similar in the UK and the EU. Let ‘em see how much they’d be losing and that’s not even counting the number of lost civilian paychecks that stem from those Posts and Bases when they no longer have jobs.
Example: If the Redstone Arsenal (Huntsville, Alabama) were to close, only about a thousand or so actual military people would be moved as opposed to the 40K+ on Post civilian jobs that would disappear.

This runs longer than most will listen to and it has brief sideshows about gold and silver. But it is a viewpoint from within Israel and it has enough "meat" that you might need a spare set of choppers to chew it all.

Despite initial appearances, maybe 98% of it is on-topic for this thread.

The experiment could be interesting in the UK, as I think it may still be salvageable as a military partner, although when you look at how low the Royal Navy has sunk from being the largest, most powerful navy in the world to what it is now, I am not so sure. NATO expanded with a bunch of small nations which increased the danger and the military burden but contribute nearly nothing thanks to Bill Clinton and perhaps George Bush. France and Spain really cannot contribute anything, and German troops are famous for their cowardice on peace-keeping missions with the UN. Talk about a crash of stature! I think the U.S. would be better off dissolving NATO and replacing it with a smaller, more disciplined alliance of nations who can truly contribute militarily.

Since NATO is basically being ruled by islam now I agree. Although some are fighting back. Hope more wise up and stop the invasions.

I don't know what would happen to Europe if we left. It may end up allying with China against us or being taken by Russia. I hope we don't end up having to rescue them like we did the last two times and even rebuild them after WWII.
What a load of crap.
General Mark Clark made an enemy of his supposed allies in the Battle of Monte Cassino, that's where my contempt for you self serving Seppos comes from.

I had to look up "Seppos," and still I'm not offended. If I have to look something up in order to be offended, it loses some of its flavor.

Yeah, they all have disdain for Americans until they need our military or our money.

And back to the thread... I hope Trump does manage to pull out of NATO. Apparently they have abandoned us already, so close those bases.

Apparently Starmer threatened to seize any Russian tanker or shadow tanker sailing through the English Channel. In response, Putin sent a tanker sailing through the Channel perhaps even through British territorial waters and the Royal Navy was unable to produce a single ship to interdict the tanker. The tanker was also reportedly escorted by a Russian Navy frigate as well. Another sign that NATO is essentially dead, and the Trump Administration is developing plans to reduce American participation in the Alliance.

This is an interesting assessment of the U.S. position on NATO. It goes into the politics of Europe, the United States, Israel, Russia, and China, and where a possible pull-out would leave Europe, albeit from a Jewish/Israeli perspective, the latter of which is not made clear unless you realize that JNS TV is Jewish News Syndicate, but this doesn't detract from it.

I have no doubt the Europeans will fall back into their centuries-old pattern of long, expensive wars if the U.S. steps away. Even during the Obama Administration, the European NATO members were unable to conduct air strikes against Libya which the Europeans wanted to attack and the U.S. did not. Obama gave in to pressure from Europe and joined the attacks half-heartedly. It is sad to see Western Europe losing its identity to Islam, especially the UK, our long-time special partner. As I have said before, I would be very happy to see the U.S. remove most of its forces from Europe. We have now seen that the bases are useless to us.
