Trump Evacuated from White House Correspondent's Dinner Due to Threat

Someone on Fox is talking about the difficulties in vetting everyone who has a room in a hotel like the one this event was at. However, when Clinton came to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas while he was president, he decided (not as a scheduled stop) that he wanted to eat at a large Mexican restaurant in Edinburgh, so the Secret Service vetted everyone who was there, making several customers leave. Local opinions weren't very good. One published comment was that because Clinton wanted to eat at a Mexican restaurant, all the Mexicans had to leave.

Trump pointed out that this attempt was another reason that he needed the ballroom for his and future presidents' safety.

You can have a crazy idea but usually it dissipates with some common sense and you drop it, but it took a lot of time to dream up the shooting and travel, giving lots of time for second thoughts. Some of these shooters must really be overcome by hate.

I read that the shooter traveled from California by train, so that is how he was able to get the weapon across the country with him. They are still not sure how he got the hotel room, since the conference is usually booked up for months ahead of time and no rooms available; so he must have had inside help to do that.
It was definitely something planned out well ahead of time.

Clearly, they were there. As I see it, given the many years of experience in such things that I don't have, the big mistake was that people were not funneled into the space where the checks were supposed to take place, thus he was able to run through. Had this area been a funnel, he wouldn't have been able to get past.
