"Tony" Thought Journal 3.0

How is your leg doing, Tony? And is Mrs. Tony recovering from the cataract surgery?
The antibiotics seems to be working were my shin was red it is now pinkish.

It's been a very difficult week starting with the day of the surgery it went from panic to happy back to panic right now we're in a happy phase. What makes it difficult for me is I have to be chef, maid, gardner, consultant, and bottle washer. She's not allowed to lift, bend over, or exert herself, so I'm trying to do as much as I can.

Tuesday the day of the surgery while preparing for her 12pm appointment, she was changing her hearing aid battery and dropped it. I follow your recommendation and vacuums we never did find the battery. We were worried the dogs might have eating it. Now I feel enough time has past that if they did eat it, there would have been a reaction. So far everything is normal with the dogs.

The day after surgery my wife was seeing much clearer, it was better than before the surgery. She was happy. The next day she woke up her vision was blurry worse then before the surgery. I tried to explain to her it's got to heal. She felt her vision should not go backwards so she called the doctor's office. They explained that the vision will vary as the eye heals. She felt there was something wrong, I couldn't convince her otherwise. " it's worse then the other eye" "I can't make anything out it's blurry" I listen to this until mid afternoon. Finally I called the doctor's office, she listened in to my conversation, I asked the appropriate questions at the end of my phone call my wife seems to me to settle a little bit. The next day her sight improved a little she was very happy and today is even improved further she's now accepting the process and looking forward for her eye to be fully healed.

I'm hoping her eye keeps improving right now we're in a nice stress free moment. I like it when my only pressure is figuring out what's for dinner tonight.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad to hear that your leg is finally healing and things are improving for Mrs. Tony. Seems like nothing is simple at this age, and little things stress me out a lot more than in the past.

I have found things the size of her battery in my pants cuff, folds of my clothes etc. Maybe on top of small furniture but under nik naks?

Mary you are not kidding. I could not find a small solitaire pendant after a party. It was in our apartment! I offered it to a friend if she can find it. She did search. No luck. A couple of weeks later my parents visited. Apartment clean, lunch ready, make up on. I nervously dug in my shorts pockets when they came up the stairs. Something small and hard was in the double seam of a pocket!

I found some old photos recently, this photo shows chippies eating at the bird feeder and a sunflower facing them. I must have filled that bird feeder a 100X. Photo from 2007.

The next photo has a story to it. My wife and I were walking towards the back of the yard when we heard this loud noise it was like a train overhead when we looked up it was hundreds of bees swarming we slowly backed away. I knew I couldn't keep the bees where they were hanging together, looked like they were making some kind of group hug, apparently they were protecting the queen, I was worried about my grandkids getting stung. I had an acquaintance I worked with who was a professional beekeeper as a side job, the last thing I wanted to do was to spray honey bees. The bees when they were finally settled were looking like a football only larger hanging from my holly tree. I was surprised when the beekeeper my acquaintance friend came over without a protective suit, hood, or gloves. He did bring a large wooden box to put the bees in. He went up on a ladder cut the branch that they were attached to and put the whole thing in a box and left it open slightly for any remaining loose bees so they could fly in.

my understanding is that the bees swarm in the spring and protect the queen while scouts are out looking for a place to build a new hive. Apparently this was a temporary visit, until they had their permanent home. In the photo the brown area is the bees, this was before they had their final configuration which look like a football.

This happened again the following year this time I didn't call my acquaintance the professional beekeeper, I opt to let them stay until they found their permanent home which took about 8 days. I wanted the bees to pollinate my vegetable plants.

I found the whole experience very interesting and I'm sure I forgot a lot of the details. Nature is amazing. Photo from 2008.
