"Tony" Thought Journal 3.0

One of my cousins had that same problem with taking hormones. He finally convinced his doctor to do castration (his mid 70s) for lowering hormones. So far he has reached 82 and MRI shows no prostate cancer advancement. For some reason doctors don't want to lower testosterone by removing testicles and had rather dispense hormones. I am not sure they give any viable reason for it, but it sounds to me like the drug business may have a hand in opposing a life extending simple surgery.

Lately, I have been concerned about my slow growing cancer because I am way more tired and take naps, even after a good nights sleep. The results from yesterdays test, show better than they have for last 2 years, which indicates no advancement but rather a decrease. I guess I will learn more at next weeks oncology visit.

Hopefully, Tony, you can get off the hormones and find something that doesn't affect you so much.
I hope you both feel better @Tony Page and @Faye Fox. Somedays it sucks getting old with our body parts falling apart. I never know "what's next", when I get up in the morning.

I called New York cancer and blood today they have a medical team on standby to help their patients if need be. I told them about some of the medical issues I was having and that I felt it was from the hormone pill they prescribed.

She gave me an immediate appointment. To be honest I felt like a hypochondriac because I had so many different issues. I met with a nurse practitioner who a few times excuses herself to go talk to the doctor. I understood this because I was being squeezed in on there already busy schedule. Bottom line I'm off the hormone pill for now. My regular appointment was pushed up to next week from the end of August. During the exam she questioned the wound I have on my shin that I went to Urgent Care for and just finished the antibiotic they prescribed about a week ago. She said I had Cellulitis, and prescribe a different antibiotic Doxycycline.
She wanted to know why I stopped taking the B12 injections. I said I didn't stop it, I just never got another appointment, she said I should have continued getting them. I got a little annoyed because she was like blaming me for not getting B12 shots. 😒 I said I don't know if I needed them I have no idea what the blood test results were. They gave me a B12 shot.
I'll have to wait and see if any of my issues resolve themselves now that I'm not taking the hormone pill.

Tony, I do my B12 shots at home. You can also get them at most pharmacies. If you prefer a doctor’s office see if they make injection appointments.

Yesterday I took my wife to the eye doctor that was recommended by an optometrist to have her cataracts removed. They talked about laser surgery to the correct her vision so she wouldn't have to wear glasses. it could be done so that she can see distance with no problem or it could be done where she can see distance and close up with no problem. She's thinking to getting it done where she can see distance she doesn't mind reading glasses if need be. They said it's a 10 minute procedure.

today I'm taking my wife to the ENT she has a clogged ear. she had micro ear surgery done on one ear about 40 some ideas ago, that ear she has to have cleaned out by a ENT every so often.

With the antibiotic I'm taking Doxycycline, I have to stay out of direct sunlight or cover up and use sunscreen. This will be problematic for me to work outside. I also cannot have milk or milk products it inhibits the absorption of the medication.

This will be my first full day off of the hormone pill, so far I'm feeling no different.

I didn't real how hard it would be doing without milk or milk products. I never thought about how much stuff I eat has milk in it. I don't like coffee black, I eat a good amount of cheeses, I like butter toast, I could go on and on. It's only for 7 days I'll get through it.

To help protect myself from the Sun I just ordered this morning a gardeners hat, it has a wide Brim and a flap in the back protect the neck. it says one size fits all I hope so, I have a hat size of 7 and 5/8.

I got a copy of the blood test I took on July 7th. It did show my red blood cells were low, I wonder if that's the reason why I'm so tired. I feel like it might be the results of the antibiotics I've been taking but I will bring it up with the doctor on Monday.

I took doxycycline for lymes disease and it did nothing so I went to teasel root to fix it. No one told me what you said, that I would be photo sensitive or not to ingest milk or their products. Maybe that is why it didn't work. Thanks for the info.

Any of the tetracycline family of drugs binds with calcium. That is why is is almost never given to children as it can turn their teeth black. It doesn't occur with adults, although your bones may darken but you generally don't see that.

That was the only antibiotic I have taken in the last 60 years. I probably should study up on medications as much as I do weeds.

Had an appointment yesterday with my oncologist. I went over all the side effects I'm having with the hormone pill. We decided I will stay off the pill until August 10th, We will make a decision then whether stay on it or stop taking it. One part of me doesn't want to stop taking it because it's got my PSA at undetectable. I'd have to weigh that against having a better quality of life.

My daughter is taking 2 vacations during the summer break. She wants to make a trip to Maine, and one to Tennessee. She left early yesterday morning she's going to Maine. She and her family are on quest to see besides children's attractions as many National Parks as possible.

My wife and I while they are away are responsible for caring for the two outside cats and our three dogs. There's no change for me because I generally take care of the three dogs. My wife it's going to be responsible for giving the feeding and giving water to the cats.

My daughter sent some photos of the trip. They had breakfast in New Hampshire and she sent photos of the town, it looks really lovely. She also sent photos of my grandkids playing in a rec room at the Motel they are staying at, they're in the town of Ellsworth, Maine.

It's funny how sometimes things just pop into your head. Late last night a product I've never used, nor have seen recently on TV, probably the last time I saw it on TV was 40 years ago that product is Geritol. Is that the secret elixir for seniors to rid themselves of their ailments. Is it like spinach was to Popeye. I looked them up on the internet because I figured they were out of business, I was wrong they're still in business with multiple products. The ingredients in Geritol are iron and the B vitamins. The iron is 100% of the daily minimum requirements. I'm not too sure that's healthy, any additional iron you might absorb from the food you eat, I wonder if that can cause an overdose.
