"Tony" Thought Journal 3.0

@Tony Page -- Keep an eye on any swelling in your leg and maybe read up on lymphedema after cancer treatment. It is possible that radiation damage or surgical removal of nodes can cause a person to develop LE, which can be very unpleasant. You may need to discuss with your oncologist and perhaps even schedule a physical therapy session.

Of course it's probably not lymphedema at all, but having experienced it (in my arm) that is how my mind works!!

Thank you, I will be seeing our new family doctor on May 14th if it gets worse by then I'll call msk. What's bothering me is the pain is in the same leg and it seems to be following a vein in other words it's not in one spot. 🤔 it's not a strong pain and today it feels actually went down a little bit. @Beth Gallagher how many people do you know have this much fun?

I don't think so I've had sciatica before this feels different. I was just outside doing some walking or at least trying to walk and it seemed to have helped it a little.
I hate to be citing my wife all the time, but she suffered from hip pain for years, about 40 years actually, and she thought it was osteoarthritis due to car accidents she was in as a child. She had been treated by doctors and chiros all that time until one chiro told her it was not arthritis but was sciatica and gave her exercises to do when the pain starts. She now does the exercises and the pain has gone away most of the time. There was no radiating pain down the leg.

I refer to it as cancer's parting gifts. :D My oncologist told me that chemo and radiation can age a person's body by 10 years, increasing arthritis and other age-related issues. Good times, huh?
Well Beth guess this is another one of the " watch out what you ask for ,you may just get it". I'ver been trying like crazy to eush up the oncology radiation appt.

If you have had lymph nodes removed, then chances are swelling is from lymphedema if swelling is in the region where the nodes were removed. I get occasional swelling in the lower abs and thighs and use my high compression leggings during exercise and it causes the swelling to recede. I don't get much swelling in my arms, more discomforts that my long sleeve compression crop top sometimes helps.

Sometimes, it is just grin and bear it.

Marie, I am SO glad you finally have things moving along. It is important to learn what kind of cancer you are dealing with and get treatment started. I hope none of our "cancer parting gifts" talk will discourage or scare you, because many people have NO after-effects at all.
