That's What She Said

Hah. Y'all thought I was joking when I said I didn't expect to see my husband for several days. He was at SIL's for 4 hours yesterday evening and nearly 6 hours today. The iPad is still not set up. Apparently SIL doesn't keep good password records and her flip phone doesn't get texts for some reason... so when she put her phone number into the account setup all the confirmation texts are going to la-la land. He said when they finally cracked the password code on her Gmail, she has over 4,000 emails in the inbox. 🥴 😵‍💫

I told him if it were me, I would wipe the iPad back to factory settings and start from fresh, including creating a new Apple ID, email account, etc. People who have zero technical ability are very frustrating to deal with.

A few months ago my husband had a dentist appointment late in the day. When he came out of the dentist's office, the parking lot was mostly empty but some 'kind' stranger left him this gift.

Damage was $6,000 but we "only" had to pay $1,000 deductible. Thanks, Parking Lot Loser, I hope karma pays you a visit.
that happened to us once , truck was parked in wide open apartments parking area. We think workers on the building did it.

I have developed an extremely annoying habit. Ever since my eye surgery, my left eye is sensitive to light so I have favored it by closing it a lot when I'm reading or on the computer. This has "taught" that eye to close, so I find myself having to consciously OPEN the eye. I know that sounds weird, and believe me, it feels weird. Amazing how fast our bodies adapt to things.

Tomorrow will be my last week of eyedrops and I'll be glad to be done with those. My eye feels OK for the most part but the big floater has returned so I guess I'll have that one from now on. I actually think it is the vitreous membrane floating around in there; it is particularly noticeable when I lay down; it kind of floats from one side of my eye to the other.

@Beth Gallagher - Mark just had first cataract surgery on the 7th. he is beyond excited to the fact he can see without glasses/ He will need some for reading. He has 3 drops 4 times a day in surgery eye until 2/2/. then 1/26 they do other eye,
I will be next buy intend on waiting until he's done and see how much we will actually owe,
Maybe you could ask the doctor about the sensitive eye?

I hope Mark is doing well. Most people are very happy with cataract surgery. My doctor had already warned me that I would have some light sensitivity so he is aware. I go back to see him in a couple of weeks and will probably be released then. I'll be glad when I can go get new glasses since my prescription isn't working that great anymore.

That happened to me as well. We had ordered a pizza from Domino's. They had a $2 discount for picking them up, so I always did. (It was less than a mile from my house, and $2 is $2.) I parked my car in a handicap space outside the store. We went there a lot and I know the manager pretty well. When I came out, the same corner of my car was crunched. I saw a security camera on the side of the building trained on the parking space. So I asked Domino's manager if he knew who owned the camera. He said it was theirs, they put it up because someone had robbed their delivery driver a couple of times. I asked him to look at the video for 20 minutes earlier when I was picking up my pizza. It showed plain as day that my car was hit by their delivery driver. Like Shirley Martin,
I had a $100 deductible too. (For non-moving incidents.) The driver was arrested for hit and run, Domino's voluntarily paid State Farm for the cost of the repairs, we were given our deductible back, and the Domino's manager gave us free pizza for awhile.

Oddly enough, I've had State Farm insurance since I took over my life insurance after my Dad died in 1983, and have filed a grand total of six claims in all those years. Four of six were in Eureka when we were home and in bed sleeping, from people hitting the car. Those four incidents cost State Farm over $16,000. They cost me $100 each. The fifth one was at Domino's in Eureka, and the last one was after someone set the apartment dumpster on fire here and before the fire department could get the fire out, the two plastic moldings on the passenger side of the car and the tail light lens had melted enough to be deformed. Six out of six were non-moving incidents. I didn't pay the deductible for the fire because the car is over 10 years old, and they don't make cars like they used to and I know it's nearing it's end of life. Melted plastic is just cosmetic anyway...

But sadly, technology is required for living these days. I find it sad that it is so.

I guess Mrs. Tony's "cancerversary" is about a year behind mine. I hope she (and you) are doing well these days.
Thank you for asking she's been doing very well actually I think she's doing better than I am. Her main complaint is the neuropathy.

I still have days where I get very tired, somedays I feel weak, but I believe it's from the hormone pill I'm taking. I find ways to work around off days. My biggest problem is frustration not being able to do what I want to. I wish I could start thinking like an old man, and forget I'm not 20. Part of my problem is Because of the fire I lost all my special places (workbenches) inside where I gardened (started seedlings), made music cd's, built and fixed things. Now I have to use the kitchen table. Nobody here understands how important an outlet those places were. Now I divert my energies to other things.

I'm sure you must have off days too we all do at our age even without medical problems.

You ring.

There are a few people out there who have managed to avoid it. My sister lives in the boonies and has never had internet, nor cable TV. They never had any interest in it, though they were forced to a cellphone when Verizon started removing land-line service in their area.

Oddly enough, about a year ago her banking information was compromised and someone forged a check on her account. The bank restored her money but she had to go through all the aggravation of getting a new account, moving auto-pay stuff, etc. So as it turns out, no one is safe from the scammers.

It is very frustrating when we are forced to realize that we just can't do things any longer. I often wonder how much of my physical decline is simply old age, and how much is residual stuff from treatment. I remember my oncologist saying that cancer treatment can age the body 10 years, as it exacerbates some arthritis, heart problems, etc. Most annoying to me these days is my failing eyesight.

I feel a lot creakier than I used to, but like you, I still want to do things. Lately I'm interested in canning food although there is absolutely no reason for me to do so. I have no garden and no family to feed, but when I get interested in something I just laser-focus on it. So I'm glad that I still want to learn about things.

Sounds like you need to commandeer an area in the house and "plant your flag," creating a workspace for your hobbies. There must be a nook in the house that you can claim as yours!
