Have you tried farmers markets and health food stores?Laid in a few Winter preps for days ahead when I can't get out.
Mostly staple items: canned tuna, canned tomatoes, rice, dry split green and yellow peas, some canned chick a al king for quick and dirty "over rice" meals, etc. I still have plenty of radish and mung beans for sprouting to have fresh "greens" when all else fails.
I used to be able to find naturally fermented (pickled) cucumber, onion, carrot, cauliflower, and cherry pepper mix... but that seems to be extinct now where I shop. I can barely find cukes alone today.
After reading lots of reviews & a longer-lasting battery, I'm considering this one:I've been having issues with my car's tires losing air ever since we had an extended ice event in January. The issue stabilized, then a couple of weeks ago one of them started losing 10 psi overnight. I have a compressor in my garage, and bought a battery inflator on Amazon so I don't have be in a state of anxiety when I go somewhere. It seems to work well...it's the same brand as the highly recommended battery jump pak I bought last year. We'll see how the battery holds a charge and how many Inflates I can get out of a single charge.
Since my tires were getting close to needing replaced when the car was inspected last March, I decided to replace them now rather than try to squeeze a few more months out of them by getting the leaky ones repaired. (One tire has this fast leak and another one developed a slow leak.) I ordered tires online Sunday afternoon and they arrived this morning via UPS. Installation is scheduled for Thursday. We truly do live in different times.
I will say I'm not sure that getting 4 years/30,000 miles out of each set of tires is all that great. The car came with Yokohamas. I installed Michelins last time...they ain't cheap.

I almost got one that plugs into the cigarette lighter, figuring that the car battery would always be charged. (You can buy those at your local Walmart.) Instead I got a GooLoo brand:

Mine has a built in rechargeable battery and works great. It is a bit slow compared to a big compressor, but fast enough for me. I use it once a month to make sure car tires are kept at best pressure. It does the wheelbarrow, my garden wagon, and my hand truck, lickity split.I have read that the ones that plug into the cigarette lighter (power port) are VERY slow. A few years ago I saw a lot of recommendations for the VIAIR on car forums so I bought one. It connects to the car battery. We like it so much that we bought another one to carry in the truck and then a couple of months ago I ordered one for my son's new car. It works well and is small enough to stow.

Yeah, I bought mine to carry in my car for emergencies. I like that I can set the desired air pressure and it will cut off automatically when that pressure is reached. My husband has a large air compressor in the shed that he uses for all the "at home" stuff.Mine has a built in rechargeable battery and works great. I went to a Publix once when I knew I would be in that area, so I skimmed their ad ahead of time. Their sale prices were the same as Walmart's everyday prices. The main thing I go to other stores for (and drive 50 miles round trip) is produce. Neither the local Walmart nor the local Food Lion have decent produce. ALDI and Kroger are only marginally better.@Tony Nathanson and @John Brunner I bought a 20V DeWalt and it is the ticket in my tire world

Today I went to the store. I have not been to the store for quite a few weeks because the AC in my car is not working up to snuff and it has been hundred degree days for almost forever.
I knew it would be expensive. I went to the Feed store first Yep, that was expensive.
I went to Walmart next instead of Kroger because I needed some things from Walmart. Boy was I surprised when I got to the grocery end of Walmart and discovered that I have been paying way too much money for a lot of grocery items in Kroger,. By way too much I mean almost 50% too much on some things. I got a lot more for my money when I walked out of Walmart. I could barely push the buggy for the same amount of money I would’ve spent at Kroger, and could’ve pushed the buggy with one hand.
These two stores are less than a mile apart, so it looks like I will be going to Walmart from here on out to get my groceries.
