Shopping--What did you buy?

Reminds me of San Marzano tomatoes. It's the only kind of canned tomatoes I'll use in pasta sauces. I've grown them, but I think they have to say "type" or "style" in their name. It's interesting how Europe protects their food products.

I can't wait to get that spice. It's a very flavorful chili. I can see all sorts of uses for it.
Core and deseed any spicy pepper and you come up with flavor and reduced heat. Water a couple of hours before harvesting and the capsaicin gets literally watered down. Dry the skins, grind them with a bit of salt. I use a pilot (mortar and pestle). An old coffee grinder works but things get too hot. Use the spiced salt. Right now I have Thai peppers going for a friend.

I have a large Excalibur dehydrator. I've dried all sorts of stuff, but have not done peppers yet. That's a good idea to crush them with salt. I'll often use coarse sea salt and coarse-ground black pepper with other spices and grind them together with the mortar & pestle just to get the flavors combined. Doing this really helps the flavor of dried herbs & spices.

Please use plain old salt for that. I have everything from celery, rosemary to Thai pepper in the ready salt department.

I placed an Amazon order for some car cigarette lighter adapters and some barrel-type electronic connectors. I've been looking for a batter backup for my electronic wood stove thermometer, and my car battery jumper has a cigarette lighter adapter, so I'm gonna make some power cables and use it.

I also bought some Hatch Chili Powder. I've never heard of hatch chilis and I really like the Hatch Chili Corn Chowder I've been buying at Walmart, so I thought I'd add this spice to my order. I'm sure I'll find a use for it. It has a nice kick.
I placed this order less than 24 hours ago. I don't have Prime and I always opt for Free Shipping, regardless of how far out the Delivery Date is quoted. The ETA for this order was estimated to be Wednesday. I just got an email. It will be here tomorrow. Gotta love it.

I didn't know that. I use it for the same reason I start with coarsely-ground peppercorns...I want something a little larger grind than Morton's table salt, which grinds into a powder. So do you use Kosher salt?
Yes, kosher salt. My dehydrator joined his ancestors:( So I dried celery leaves on a tray and turned them into a celery salt. Next - lemon.

My Excalibur isn't a daily use appliance, but it's nice to have around. Glad I bought it pre-COVID.

I can't recall...do you live in an arid region? I'm in Virginia. It's so humid it's tough to dry clothes outside.

Don’t think I mentioned the small air fryer ,that has 2 glass bowls to cook in

The largest is less than a foot square , I’ve used it everyday since I bought it.

I’ve got a small oven type one , got this one to take with me when I’m away from home

It dose a quick good job of coking what ever I’ve put in it

I didn’t take this photo it’s from the add I got from a kitchen shop
