August pool party for Seniors sponsored by local town officials where I am at a
    local pool club facility.
Free admission, games, associating, swimming, hot dogs, burgers, french fries and ice cream.
I don't consume any of these, do I bring a peanut butter & jelly sandwich with me?

Yes. Of course. Lots of people will be bringing their own foods. What's uncommon these days is for events to not offer foods for those who don't eat meat. It's a standard thing to do.

It sounds like there's time to put a bug in somebody's ear to fix this oversight. They'd likely appreciate the heads-up. (Oh, and let the politicians take credit for thinking of it.)

Sounds like fun. How nice that your town does that. Whatever you do and whatever you decide to munch on...have a blast!

Yep agree, sometimes we just have to bring our own choice of food.

LOVE the watermelon pig idea, Yvonne...

I make a point of always bringing a head of lettuce for the vegans, and maybe some birdseed as an appetizer.

As long as they don't give me grief over what I eat, they are welcome to graze.

Reminds me of an office mate who went to Texas to interview for a job. He did not eat meat, and they were taking him out for some good ol' Texas bbq. He dodged a bullet because the line was too long, so they did Italian instead.
