President Trump has just announced that starting on February 1st, there will be no payments of any kind sent to sanctuary cities, or to states that have sanctuary cities.
This is a great thing, and should have been already done. I know it has been talked about for a while, so it is good that it will now happen. Once the states are not receiving any federal money (I think they already did this with Minnesota now), the people will be after their governors to stop supporting all of the criminals and illegals, and maybe they will even start helping ICE arrest some of these criminals.
Governor Walz has just released over 500 criminals from jails and prisons in Minnesota, most likely so that they can join the paid protestors that are already out there harassing law enforcement.
 
He might as well have said "Let the latest round of Federal Lawsuits begin." Trump tried to do that several times during both his first and second terms, and has actions have consistently been blocked by federal judges as unconstitutional. You would think as many times as he has lost these lawsuits, that he would learn not to bother. But it's not costing him anything. Just the taxpayers.
 
I believe he has the authority to temporarily suspend payments, but permanent changes will have to be authorized by congress (or so I've read).

In my opinion, sanctuary cities/states should have been designated unconstitutional from the get-go, but this is just one more ridiculous thing the democrats did to assist in the downfall of the USA. Disgusting, as are the pathetic "judges" who attempt to stymie every attempt to put things right. (And yes, I mean put them RIGHT.)
 
I agree @Beth Gallagher, and as we know, Trump is not afraid of lawsuits. He expects them and feels he is not being effective if there is no resistance. Many, if not most, of the lawsuits brought against him have been eventually been dismissed or he has triumphed. I once thought the same way; if nobody hated me, I was not doing anything significant. As the corruption is unearthed, those who are profiting for the corruption will certainly fight back. In this country, and most of the West, the people trying to destroy Western civilization have control of the media and educational institutions. It was part of the Progressive plan beginning in the late 19th century, and now being operated by the Soros group[ and other enemies of the West and national identity.
 
Apparently many of the irrational protestors like the one recently killed in Minneapolis are previously well-off Liberal White women who are being manipulated by others to do stupid things after they are convinced they are doing the right thing in supporting an illegal sex offender as the woman in Minneapolis reportedly was. White women, unhappy with their lives are in the streets in cars doing the Devil's work. If any of you are familiar with The Screwtape Letters written by C.S. Lewis during WWII, you will recognize the work or Screwtape, and Wormwood in the recent happenings.

You just don't want it to be true @Axel Slingerland and a lot of the lawsuits brought supporting Trump that are never publicized unless it goes against him are not brought be Trump but instead by others who believe they are supporting him.

Now Donald Trump has announced that "something big" will take place in Minnesota tomorrow. What does that mean? I have no idea, but he said something big is going to happen to Iran as well. I guess tomorrow might be an interesting news day.
 
I think that the reason that Minnesota has started to at least look like they are complying is because they do not want to lose their federal funding, and it is stopping this weekend if they do not comply and stop having a sanctuary city in Minneapolis, or any other ones that they declare as that.
It appears that the national guard is mostly just driving around and not doing anything to actually stop the rioters, so if Tom Homan decides that Minnesota is not actually complying like the promised, then they might still lose their funding.

It is looking like Seattle is trying to be the next place where this happens. The mayor has already told the police that they are supposed to tell everyone where ICE is at, that ICE can’t be on any state or city property, and that they will not cooperate with ICE in any way.
Since western Washington also has a huge Somalian population, and probably the same scams operating there as are operating in Minneapolis, that will be the next place they sent the paid rioters to once ICE starts arresting criminals and gang members and fraud by illegals in western Washington.

Didn't the Supreme Court already recently rule that independent federal judges could not stand in the way of the President with regard to this?

I know states have certain rights that protect them from federal laws, although I can't imagine one of those being the right to allow non citizens' to break into the nation.
We are systematically being replaced by invasions from all over the world, mostly South American nations.
I was listening to Desantis on Laura Ingram a few minutes ago basically about how American citizens are paying for the higher education of millions of illegals.
 
The Haitians that Biden brought in are no longer in temporary protected status, and they have to go back home, and if they do not, they will now be deported just like all of the other illegals.
We have mostly seen the Hispanics here in Alabama, but it appears that there are also a great number of the Somalians, not just in Minnesota, but in several of the eastern states, as well as on the west coast, especially in western Washington.

From what I can see, the Hispanic have been the least of the problems because many of them do hold jobs, whereas the Somalians and the Haitians are living on welfare and getting all of the government benefits that are only supposed to be for American citizens. The Somalians and the Hindees seem to be the one who are doing most of the scams and fraud, and we probably have as many Hindees here with expired visas as we do any of the other illegals.

We have gotten a lot of the illegals deported and criminals sent to prison and are stopping a lot of the drug running and other criminal activity. In just one year, here are the results of President Trumps efforts to clean up the country from the drug dealers and deport illegals.

95% drop in border crossing
130K unaccompanied kids rescued
Fentanyl deaths are plummeting
FEMA response overhauled
Murders dropped 20%
 
Tom Homan has said he is not terribly interested in deporting illegals who are working, pay taxes, are not receiving welfare, and are not criminals, but if he has to go into a community to arrest a criminal and finds they are with a group of illegals, he has no choice but to round them all up. That is why he wants ICE notified when an illegal criminal is in jail so they can arrest only the person committing crimes. Sanctuary cities force ICE and Broder Patrol to apprehend and deport more people than they need to because they make them pursue the criminals into their communities where a lot more "innocent" illegals live.

Cities and states do not have the right to interfere with Federal agents enforcing Federal laws.

Don there is nothing 'innocent' about 'illegal' and To Homan and Trump both need to realize this.
I'm glad the borders are closed and crime is said to be down, we voted for Trump that doesn't mean I like or respect him. Just that I had no choice considering who else was running.
Nothing personal against anyone just my opinion.

I hate to state the obvious, Marie... but no one was fighting Obama every damn step of the way. Trump has not been allowed to carry out his plans due to Democrats overreach and nitwit "judges" fighting everything he tries to do.

Don't worry Beth, you're not overstating the obvious. You're just stating an opinion.
Trump is anything but stupid, so why didn't he know he had no chance in hell to deport " all 30 million, like he ran on.
I would have to leave my brain at homer if I thought the only thing stopping deportations of illegals was a few supreme court judges.
It looks to me like George Carlon was right, "It's a club, and you ain't in it".
Do I hope and pray for the sake of the youth in the nation that I am wrong, you can bet I do.

We are paying higher prices on everything due to these illegals.

Homan just meant that they had not committed any violent crimes, or crimes against children. He and Trump are both very aware of the illegal immigrant problem.
