It's amazing how many things are being obscured through misinformation and a simple lack of coverage.
Oil prices can be a factor, but consider how long increasing prices and scarcity have been going on. Well before "Iran" - the usual suspect we are generally handed now.
Agricultural consolidation and regulatory weakness allowed big syndicates to take a lot of it over and control production and prices as smaller competition got squeezed out.
Of course it goes beyond food. Local media from newspapers to radio and TV barely exist aside from local corporate outlets.
