OMG how did ~ we ~ and our kids survive with no seat belts or harnesses/ next to no sun protection …..in prams

….I've got a old blurry photo of me in one of those big cane prams 😀😀

Disposable diapers came in boxes!

I remember this from babysitting (late 70's), when Pampers started becoming more popular!

No pins or rubber pants needed!

Old-fashioned cloth diapers, diaper pins, and rubber pants!

These were the household standard, especially in homes where more than one child was wearing diapers!

My baby brother was still wearing these in 1977! I used to change him all the time, and remember how I'd run the business end of the pins through my hair before pinning the diapers! Used to help make the pins go through his double diapers quick and easy!

Also remember diaper pinning rubber pants if they were old and worn out! I'd use a single diaper pin and stick it through the front of the rubber pants near the top of the elastic waistband to help keep the rubber pants in place over the diapers!

Boy... those were the days!

Right you are, Milly.

I used the bumper pads for my first two, then found them to be more of an inconvenience than anything. Stripping and changing the cribs with no pads equalled a time saver for me, so the pads went by wayside.

My youngest two boys used the pads as sliders when sliding down the carpeted stairs! They'd sit on the slippery plastic pads and zing down the stairs!
