Re-start?

Good morning to all-

I am going to try another effort at posting on this site. I will avoid the "political" threads- my views are generally not welcome here. But the politics is a very small part of my life, so I can live without expressing my considered opinions.

With your permission, I will introduce myself. I am seventy-five years old at this time, and I am likely the most personally conservative man you will ever meet. I have been married- to the same lady- for over fifty years. We raised three children- all graduated from college- all are working. We have two half- Indian grandsons we are very proud of. We lived in Arkansas, Missouri, Florida and now the coast of the Gulf of Mexico in Alabama. We paid off our mortgage and all other obligations so we owe no man. I was a teacher in the public schools for almost forty years- I have seen a lot of things- good and bad- in those years. I believe every child deserves a free, appropriate education, and I do not think so very much of most "private" schools I have knowledge of.

I treasure the outside and undeveloped wild places. I paddle my kayak and I run my small outboard fishing skiff in pursuit of redfish. I build my own fishing rods- fly rods, mostly, and I have built a number of small wooden boats in the past- I'm too tired to work that hard to build boats now. I worked for many regional and national outdoor magazines, but, alas, print magazines are a dying/dead thing- it's all online now. I have written books about small craft building and small craft fishing as well as living in the country and growing old books.

I can't tolerate cities and large crowds of people- I have to seek relief in those situations.

I have gardens for flowers, food, and I raise chickens for eggs, meat and companionship. I enjoy cooking outside on my Big Green Egg griller- I make a superb beef roast grilled in beer, just so you know. I'm not bad on grilled chicken, either.

I hope you all are doing well, and hopefully, I have not offended anyone to this point. Oh, and I WILL avoid the political threads here.

you all be safe and keep well- Ed

I think that is an awesome decision, @Ed Delabama ! I have seen that you often come here and read, but never participate, even in non-controversial discussions, and hoped that you would eventually decide to write on the forum again.
We all have different opinions on almost everything, but it should not be a reason that we can’t chat with each other and be friends.
I am looking forward to reading your posts about your gardening, fishing, and life in the southern part of Alabama…….
Welcome back ! !

Howdy again and a handshake @Ed Delabama !

Having thought about it, other than creating a certain amount of anxiety, there is very little on the political stage that truthfully affects me personally so I too have backed off considerably on any offers from this gentleman in the political arena or “forum” as it were.

I too would like to welcome you back Ed. We DO have similar interests; e.g. Food, Woodcraft, Gardening etc and we’re both about the same age so I am looking forward to that “new start” and some good conversation.
