Pet Peeves

People who post nonsense about the Yellowstone Hot Spot. Yvonne has seen how I react to that. With barrage of known facts.

People who go to any National Park that won't follow Safety Laws. Such as the National Park Service has a list of absolute no-nos that people ignore all the time, and sometimes they pay for it big time. (And I'm not talking just about large fines, either.) Yellowstone has quite a list that many National Parks don't have, such as personal behavior as thermal areas. When you go through the park entrance, you get a complete list. But we've already discussed that lately... People don't read the warnings, and at times that stupidity can cost them their life, or some innocent wild critter it's life. But in Yellowstone, violating safety laws can also get you a trip to Federal Court and sent to jail somewhere you probably would want to be.

So I guess one of my pet peeves is people who suffer from terminal stupidity. When I lived in Yellowstone, I bought a t-shirt at the Yellowstone Savage Shop win West Yellowstone, Montana. It had a picture of Boo-Boo Bear on it, and said "This isn't Jellystone, so don't be like Yogi. Do what Mr. Ranger says."

You can't fix stupid.

You can't fix stupid.
I have friend who is a NPS Ranger up in Yellowstone, and he is always saying that. In 2016, a father and son put a Bison calf in the back of their car and drove it to a Ranger Station because they believed it was cold, leading Rangers to ticket them for interfering with wildlife. They were fined $5,000. But the stupid didn't end there. Then it was NPS's turn. He said Rangers were forced to put the calf down after they repeatedly failed at reintroducing the animal to its herd. I told him I disagreed with that, because just about any large Zoo in the country would take a wild animal that cannot survive on it's own in the wild. The Bronx Zoo in New York City has done it many times.

Was just thinking back to the baby days/years in our house and the pet-peeves I had back then!
  • Accidentally pricking myself with the cloth diaper pins when changing diapers! OUCH!
  • When the rubber pants got stiff and crackly and ripped and tore!
  • Lugging the large and full plastic diaper pails down the wooden basement stairs on laundry day, praying I never tripped or fell! Yes, I had two pails on the go!
  • When my kids got older (the toddler years) and would jump up and down in their cribs and tear the rubber crib sheets!
  • When my youngest learned how to climb out of his baby crib in the middle of the night and roam the house!
Those were the days!
