Our very frighting car accident today

We had a horrible day today .

We got up early , made our porridge had it decided to go to the Thursday morning dance that starts at 10 am till just after lunch , hubs stopped dancing at one stage and said my A fabulation is playing up ,and I need to out to the car and get a tablet, he he gets a warning on his Apple Watch which has that important feature

Anyway he was OK after 15 mins , so we continued dancing,

after it finished we traveled to Costco and filled up with petrol to go home tomorrow after spending a month in the city .

We got down the road about 5 km on one of the busiest roads in Adelaide, and he had a black out , so the car continued , across 2 lanes of traffic ,over a large concrete island in the middle of the road , and hit another car on the other side of the road …...,.both ours and the other car are right offs

luckily no one was seriously hurt , but I’m suffering a bit of shock and hubs is in hospital ,till they work out why the black out happened ( he’s never had it before )…..now we are left without a car ,we only have / had one ….so who knows what will happen regarding our car ….and yes we’ve got good insurance …..our car is 6 years old bought brand new in 2020


My hubby will likely loose his drivers licence unless the doctors can find out what’s caused this black out , he semi remembers the last few seconds before blacking out he said it was like looking at something with an old film negative over his eyes

How scary!! I am glad you all did not get hurt. I hope the doctors can find out why your husband blacked out.
 
Oh, @Kate Ellery , that is terrible; but I am so glad that both you and your husband were not injured in the accident , and also that the other people involved are okay, too.
I hope that they are able to see why he blacked out. Some of the medication they gave me for a-fib makes me really dizzy, but I know not to do anything like driving or that might be dangerous after I take it until I stop being so dizzy. Maybe the dancing just made his heart work harder and so it affected him more.

Sending prayers and hugs for you as you work out what happened and how to get home. It is good that you have the full coverage insurance, so you should be able to get a vehicle to get back home again.

Thank,you everyone , 🤗🤗I’ve only just got up after 1.5 hours sleep for the night … i feel exhausted …
@Yvonne Smith hubs recently had his blood thinners changed by the cardiologist becuse the one he was on was causing really bad nose bleeds during the night

I googled the one he’s on now and it can cause blackouts ☹️☹️

Our car is not drivable the front drivers side wheel is almost flat on the ground and the front is very damaged and it had heaps of liquid running out at the radiator ….

Yep @Don Alaska , I drive but I’m not keen on long distance driving ,we live 2 hours drive from the city .

This is the first time in my life I’ve been in a car accident ..,it was terrifying ,I’m still weepy and a bit shaky today

We are not covered for a hire car , but we need to arrange some sort of transport to get stuff out of the car
The police asked for my phone number , and yesterday I was sent the name of the wreckers where it is ,and the name of the other driver

Our insurance covers us for $200 for a taxi / or motel , last time I spoke to our insurance about updating our policies ( we had not updated anything since we’d bought the car in 2020) , he said our policy gives us new for old due to the fact we insured the car from new
with them before we even drove it out of the showroom

It’s kinda strange not having the car ….its a Nissan
 
I was visiting hubs at the hospital yesterday ,when 2 junior and one senior cardiologist came in to,check him ,and the senior one said it’s possible his heart stopped ,and was jolted back into beating again when he hit the concrete island in the middle of the mojor road

OMG , it’s possible he will loose his drivers licence for a while , so it will end our driving trips even tho … I drive I’m not fond of long distance driving

His Apple Watch shows heart beats,, so if you look at the readout for that day on his iPhone , it should show no heartbeats for a short period if his heart did stop and then restart from the jolt of hitting the concrete.
If he just passed out, then the heartbeat would remain steady the whole time.
What heart medication are they giving him that they said could cause the blackouts, Kate ?

If it was medication side effect how will it affect you insurance’s decisions?
