Are you sure that's an actual charge, though? Most retailers run the transaction to make sure your card won't decline as soon as you submit the order, but the actual charge doesn't hit till the item ships.

I believe that charge is a nominal amount, like $1. I got this charge from one of the 4 or 5 items I ordered that's coming from the seller, but not from the rest of the stuff.
I just took a look. The full charge ($6.04) from that one seller hit my card yesterday. I also see a $1 charge from the BP station and it pinged my card before allowing me to pump gas.

Often when I get a text from Visa that a charge has hit, I can go to their website and see the charge in "pending," but not in the completed transactions. I had a $150 charge from Amazon yesterday and I had not bought anything so I went to Amazon to see my order history. It was the annual PRIME membership. 
Yeh, this one is not Pending that I can see. As an aside, I think the BP station charged me an extra dollar. It pinged my credit card for $1 and then the pump said "No Receipt Available...do you wish to continue?" I spaced out and hit "No." Then I started over and my card got pinged for the test $1 again...then the full amount. The initial $1 from the aborted transaction did not get credited back. I just don't recall how much gas I bought. I'd go back and talk to them about it, but don;t want to hear whispers of "Boomer" as I walk away. It ain't worth it for a buck.

I got a strange email from Amazon this morning...
"We identified a small subset of refunds which were issued, but the payment never went through.
You have one or more of these refunds, shown below, and we have since reprocessed your refund. The refund was made to the original payment method, or if unavailable, was applied as an Amazon Gift Card to your account. Refunds typically take 3-5 business days to process and appear in your account."
I looked at my Amazon account and the referenced order was from 2021. I guess I never noticed that I didn't get a refund, and now I have no idea why it was refunded.

I don't pay much attention but I get refunds from Amazon every now and then.
A couple of years ago I had some strange itch on my forearm (no rash, just an itch) that Cortisone cream did not fix. I ordered some generic Benadryl gel from Amazon and the stuff is like magic. I've been using it for my recent chigger bites and was concerned that it might be getting old (it still works but there's no Expiry Date on it) so I bought Walmart's house brand equivalent. The Walmart stuff sucks...it seems weak. So I went to Amazon and ordered more of the original stuff I got.
I received it today and the bottle now includes an Expiry Date. This bottle expires in October 2026...less than 2 months from now. I got a refund but really want more of this stuff, and there's no way for me to make sure something fresher gets picked.

I never look at expiration dates on stuff like that. If it still works, who cares?
We buy most of our groceries at our local Hannaford's supermarket, and my wife sometimes shops at the larger Hannaford's or at Shaws in Bangor, since she's in Bangor a lot, but most everything else we buy, we get online, the vast majority of it from Amazon, and we buy some of our food, and nearly all of our cat food, on Amazon. Oddly, I can buy cat food on Amazon that is shipped by Petco, cheaper than I can buy it at Petco.
Yeh, I'll certainly keep it. It's easy enough to tell if topical stuff loses its efficacy. And this stuff is magic on itches.
I just looked and I bought the original bottle in April 2024. I have no idea how old it was when I received it. It is still way more effective than the fresh Walmart stuff, and I got one of those "Don't return it but here's your money back" refunds. So now I have 2 extra bottles (I bought a 2 pak.)
The product picture changed and now it's a squeeze tube instead of the plastic bottle that I initially received. This recent shipment contained the old style bottles, so maybe they're shoving the old stuff out the door.

Two years ago the FTC sued Amazon for some of its trade practices against vendors and competitors, and won an historic $2.5 Billion settlement.
Amazon's most recently reported 12 month rolling Revenue (June '25- June '26) was nearly $800B, a year-over-year increase of $160B. That $2.5B fine was a drop in the bucket...an incidental cost of doing business.

Somewhat similar here. From coffee to pet food a lot is set on auto ship which brings a discount and can be postponed.
