Nearing the End Comfort Zones

I hadn't thought about comfort zones for old age and facing the fact we are nearing the end of our lives, until @Lois E. Winters mentioned it.

The little reading I did about it, made me realize that a goal should be to find that comfort zone.

My mind immediately went to Marie, that suffered for months, and how she found a comfort zone, howbeit brief, thru hospice, to spend her final days.

This has me thinking, what can I do to find the comfort zones available to me? While, I feel I have years to live, I know it is coming and if I can lessen any suffering, then that is worth exploring.

What are your comfort zones? Surroundings that make you feel comfortable, perhaps loved, and not alone? What can you do now to assure you will be in a zone of comfort, when your final days are closer? I am interested to hear others thoughts on this.

Comfort zones. I haven’t really thought about it. I figured I would end up in a nursing home somewhere all alone, if I am lucky to live long enough. Or even a hospice facility, if I end up with terminal "something". I would hate being in places like that, but when you don’t have much family left, that would seem the most likely outcome. Hopefully, I don't have to think about that for "any reason" for a long time yet.

I am a curmudgeon. I will fight to the end.
For now I need a way to turn/reposition myself at night. Maybe get a low jungle gym for over the bed for when things head south. Streaming helps distract me, so a remote would be good. I have a commode somewhere if needs be. And I like to be warm. Down comforters would be light enough to handle. I probably should get a bidet attachment for my potty. I like to be clean.
I have been using the exercise equipment in the basement trying to fend off the end.
I wish they still let us have oxy.

Here is what I found out about comfort zones. They are a holistic approach.

Physical comfort zones – managing pain, breathing difficulty, restlessness, skin irritation, and other distressing symptoms through medication, positioning, and supportive measures
Emotional comfort zones – providing reassurance, presence, and calm communication to reduce anxiety and fear
Environmental comfort zones – creating a peaceful, familiar setting that supports relaxation and dignity
Spiritual comfort zones – offering a sacred or meaningful space, supporting spiritual needs, and connecting the patient to their beliefs
Family support zones – guiding and supporting caregivers so they are not left alone in the process

Well, I guess this thread died a quick death and never had a chance finding a Comfort Zone. :(
Aww.
Do you know what gives me comfort when I think about my end days ?
It's my belief that life goes on and I'm going to a place to be with my family that have already departed.

It's good to make a plan of comfort as to where you want to be etc etc , and important that your loved ones know about your wishes.

Sometimes though, we dont have time to think about it.
I was rushed into hospital last year and I wasn't expected to live.
All I can say is that I felt very calm .
My husband was by my side and the kids came to see me when they could.
I knew I was been cared for by the doctors and nurses , and mentally I knew it was time.

I know how I'll die ( unless something else gets there first ) and I honestly haven't made any plans for the end.
I think that's because at this moment in time I don't know exactly where is best for me .

I know I will have to be on oxygen. But maybe by then I will have had it installed at home.

A hospice is an option I expect .
The one thing I don't want is to be left in the care of my family and putting the pressure of them "not knowing what to do for the best" and having it on their conscience as to whether they did the right things .
I think if I was in care somewhere that pressure would be taken from them.

But we'll see.

“What is my comfort zone”. It is that I don’t think about it.

I have a small farm, horses & dogs that need my attention. I dwell on them and give a prayer of thanks every single morning the Lord not only let me wake up, but let me wake up and still be me in the process.

I guess one could say my comfort zone is my undying faith in the Lord. He has picked me up and carried me through some ugly tragedies, so whatever he chooses as the subject comfort zone of this thread to be, will be😇😇
