Mother's Day Memories

@Marie Miller mentioned that we might have a Mother's Day discussion. I wonder how many of us still have our mothers at this point in our lives. My own mother died in 1991; I can't believe it's been so long since I've heard her voice.

This year, Mother's Day falls on my youngest son's birthday, May 10. I remember he was born on a Thursday night and back in those days, new mothers stayed in the hospital for 3 or 4 days so I was still in the hospital on Mother's Day. My husband brought our older small son to the hospital to see us, and my little son brought me a gift-wrapped electric can opener that he had personally selected as my Mother's Day gift. He was unimpressed with his new brother and a little jealous.

Will you celebrate Mother's Day this year? Do you have memories of special Mother's Days in the past?

My mother (and my father) have been gone since the spring of 1988; so it has been a long time for me that I have missed them. My mom loved flowers and had a yard full of peonies (and a lot of other flowers), so when my peony is blooming, it always brings my mother to mind.
We pretty much do not celebrate any days anymore; but my kids always message me or call to wish me a happy Mother’s Day, and I do the same with my 2 daughters -in-law.

That is sweet of you.

I remember when I was a young kid, one Mother's day I bought my mother a turkey so she can cook it and I can eat it...
She thought it was different but did appreciate the thought..
Go know what kids will do..........

Cards are in the mail. MIL is past comprehension. Mumsy has a double batch of hard candy almonds coming. It is almost impossible to do something nice for the queen of negativity.
I did manage it to perturb her. USPS says delivered. She did not have anything in her mailbox. Or she did not check?
