Medicare assistance programs

President Trump just announced that the government will be sending out checks of almost $100 ($90) to seniors to help with their Medicare part B premiums. It is unclear whether this is each month, or a one-time payment.
One response said it was a one time $90 payment, and another person said their MIL was getting it paid every month, and it is hard to know if they were referring to the same thing.
The President is still hoping to send out the $5000 dividend checks, but it is going to depend on whether he can get Congress to authorize it, so we have to see how things go in the mid-term elections.

Low income people on Medicaid do not get the Medicare check, so maybe they do not get the $5000 one either ……. We have to wait and see what happens. I guess.

However, not all states operate the same.

Here are some comments from that video...

"These programs are for those in poverty and nothing in the bank..my State doesn't allow you to have any assets like checking or savings accounts, investments, retirement accounts with a total of more than $2000, and that leaves out most people."

"All of these videos that show all if these programs for seniors and lets say low income never help the actual MIDDLE CLASS...If you worked hard and saved your money and stayed out of debt you will never get any help when times get tough...They always say "If you qualify" and you won't..."

According to Newsweek, it's a one-time payment. As for the person claiming that "their MIL was getting it every month," they are full of beans. https://www.newsweek.com/trump-announces-100-checks-to-seniors-for-medicare-premiums-12519810

From the article:

"Who qualifies: More than 20 million seniors enrolled in Medicare Part B. [1, 2]

Who does not qualify: Individuals whose premiums are already covered by Medicaid or those who pay an Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount"

That leads me to believe that for 2-person households, each individual on Medicare and not receiving premium assistance will receive the $90. Of course I am usually wrong.

I was being snarky in my first line about the $90 :ROFLMAO:

Well, I have savings in the bank and own my property outright. I qualified for QMB and have zero Medicare premiums, copays, deductibles and anything else medical that is approved by Medicare. It is regulated by the state Medicaid program and also includes some perks for dental and a debit card with funds for medical/health supplies one would normally buy at a grocery store or pharmacy.

People are already posting on social media that the $90 Medicare payment is already in their bank accounts, so that payment really came out fast ! President Trump must have known that everything was ready to send before he even made the announcement.

Can you translate this please?
