"Marie", has a new primary care "Doctor" now

Spent hours convincing them how Marie doesn't do good with meds, which does not even work half the time for her, been with her 47 years and has me at my wits end watching her suffer pain for 7 months now. Told them if they kill nerve endings and cut pain some she will not have to keep eating all the Tylenol, delaudid, xannex etc, and maybe she could have a little quality of life in her last days. Anyway a lot more was said before it was over and she finally said I understand darling and I just have to figure how to send the referral to them and ok it with her Dr, will call you back the later today and let you know it's done.

I had HIFU a few years ago on one branch of my left trigeminal nerve. It got me out of the worst excruciating pain, but left part of that side of my face numb. I haven't had unbearable sharp pain in that area since. It was a better option than the sodium blocking med that was making me sick.

It might help Marie if her pain is coming from a nerve and tissue they can destroy without causing paralysis. If the pain is from several sources or referred pain, then that might present a problem. Certainly worth checking out.

Have you thought about acupuncture, @Marie Mallory?
 
I know that I have mentioned using both DMSO and MSM for pain before, and i do not remember if Marie tried either one or not; but they are also used along with other cancer treatments, and I can’t see how trying it would hurt at this point. You do not need any kind of recommendations, and both products are cheap and easy to use.
Since Marie has trouble swallowing the large pills, and the MSM ones are huge, it would be better to get the powder which can be added to any kind of liquid. I have added it to my coffee, but it would be better in lemonade or some kind of juice, and there are no side affects, just pain relief.
Since Marie is having trouble finding pain relief without side effects, I wanted to mention this again.

I have used DMSO for around 50 years and have never had any kind of side effects or issues with it. Doctors use DMSO when they are doing organ transplants, to keep the new organs safe. There are some good books about DMSO on Kindle, and some you can read with Kindle Unlimited.
Some of the first people using DMSO for injuries and pain were sports players, and they makes a lot of money and can use anything they want for pain.
They also use it to treat patients who have had strokes, and if used soon enough, it can reverse the stroke in some people.

I would rather use something that works and has no known side effects than prescription medications that have known side effects.

For anyone taking opioids it can be dangerous without medical supervision...I did a little research. So guess mom will have to consult her doctor but thanks for posting. Theresa
 
This was a "first"; came on to say a couple things and I was still logged in, go figure; that will make Marie happy. :) She's always saying to me, why you're logging out, no one thinks you're just sitting there with your tongue hanging out.

Dr. did the referral for Hifu for me, Krystal called and said if they haven't called in a couple days, you call and make the appointment for her. She's really sweet to me now, after our go around about Marie needs it. Now I am leaving it up to Marie; and see how well she does with this nightmare of pain. I'll let her tell me what she wants to do and follow her lead. This is the hardest thing I've ever been through, and not sure of the outcome of it, I can't sleep if I wake up because my mind takes off. It's 6:23 I have been up since 4: am. Theresa and Cindy our first Grand baby are asleep upstairs, and Marie in our bedroom, I always put a 2 way radio beside Marie so all she has to do is press it to call. Looked in on her several times already and so far looks like she's resting out of some pain, only time she seems to get without pain.

Marie is a tough woman, and it's really hard to see such a terrible thing she's going thru, I just hate it so very much, It tears me up, over this and I feel so helpless. Thanks for y'alls kindness to her.

I can’t say much as my husband passed from metastasized prostate cancer in April 2024. I read things that are so familiar to his situation. It is best that I don’t comment.

Just please know that you are both on my prayer list and will continue to be🙏🙏🙏🙏

I agree with you, Faye, just waiting on her strength to come back some, lately she's been too weak to do anything without help. Will call them; soon as she is up to it.

Update; there are some changes in Marie as far as mobility, which is "non existent", now, and sleeping more in mornings than before. Still not use to it, because for quite awhile she would wake all hours in pain and up early, for the seventh month of this nightmare; "thrust" upon us, "without" a warning at all, she just did squats she saw on YouTube, and wallah, everything went to "hell".

We're trying to give her her pain meds, every six hours now; she took them at 4 am this morning, when the pain was so bad that she wakes hurting, so much she can't sleep, doing it to see if it helps her on the worse morning pain, that she can't take. I'm still wondering how I will ever accept this, and how others got through such a devastation as this, don't know. So far Marie is still asleep and so is Dwayne, he's upstairs. He just came down to the porch outside. Anyway, what we are trying to do is see if by taking the meds before the morning pain sets in; will help her not go thru as much pain in the mornings. Hope to get her strength back enough for the Hifu treatments, so she will not have to take meds, or be in the horrible pain she is "always" in. If I don't make sense with things; I say it's because this has really taken a toll on me and her. There's no comparison to me and what she's going through; I know, and if I could I would trade places with her in a "heartbeat". I told her again yesterday; that I should have gone first, because I think as strong as she is; she would've done way better job handling things than I am.

Seven months and two days since this has happened to her, and I'm still not able to grasp my "mind", that it is really happening. She tells me different things now and then, that "surprises" me, she is a very smart, and strong woman, and I "HATE" seeing her go thru this. Another one of her cousins called her last night, and she said she never would have thought, he would've called, I told her I'm not surprised, he's a VN vet and she said it drove him nuts, that "war" did. I talked to him after she did, and he remembered us going with him and his wife and kids, to Thunderbird Drive Inn, outside movie theater, way back when, I told him I don't remember what was playing that we saw, and he said me neither, and laughed out loud. He's had three strokes so far but still pretty much coherent on our discussion together.


I will still try and keep you good folks updated, but anymore, I stay really "busy", trying to stay "sane". If I can keep my wits about me, I will keep posting y'all, from time to time. :unsure:
