"Marie", has a new primary care "Doctor" now

I think you will end up with a team of providers, probably led by an oncologist but perhaps including a neuro-orthopedist, a therapeutic and diagnostic radiologist, perhaps even a clinical pharmacist and others. The oncologist will be the team leader and will oversee your treatment going forward. You are already in contact with pain management.

Don this sounds likely.(y)

So glad they finally made me an appointment. Maybe he can help with pain. Long as he doesn't cause more pain physical ort mental, mental can be bad too, pain meds can make the mental really bad. But I'm getting use to knowing how to use them now.

Marie--your oncologist is going to determine the type and grade of cancer and establish a treatment plan. He should go over the plan with you and make sure you understand, so ask plenty of questions. Cancer treatment is hard and exhausting, but you can do it. I'm so relieved that you FINALLY have an appointment scheduled.

Having a biopsy would have really helped getting into an Oncologist, pronto! I still can't believe they didn't do that in the ER after they suspected cancer. I am so glad to hear that you finally got to talk to an Oncologist office.

The most common place responsible for upper spinal cancerous tumors in women is breast cancer. Tailbone tumors are most commonly from rectal or colon cancer in women. In men, prostate cancer is the main source of spread. I don't see any reason for a brain scan because cancer very rarely starts in the brain. I am guessing your oncologist will take a biopsy and want a breast scan and possibly a colonoscopy. There will also be a lot of blood test.

Thanks Faye, will see after Dr visit and he does some test.

Don't overthink it so much Marie. After the Oncologist visit, you will probably be assigned an Oncology nurse that you can call or text with concerns or just because you feel down. There will be all kinds of counciling available and other resources.

Take it day by day and don't worry about things you have read and what others experiences have been, your cancer team will custom tailor your treatment just for you. My first major cancer journey differed from my current one. While the first one was, time is of the essence, my current one is wait and watch with testing every 6 months. The rate a cancer grows, determines treatment.

You will learn how Oncology and Hematology are connected and how various blood test help an Oncologist chart and follow your cancers response to treatment. Your appointment tomorrow is just one of many you will have. I hope the news is better than you anticipate. Hugs!

Marie, this is about you and your problems!
Some of your problems seem unusual to others. Some of your problems others have gone through. The main thing is that you are not alone! Jake is not alone!

Update on oncologist appointment today; went and saw Dr. he set referrals for biopsies on two masses at Shands UF, and pet scan Lake City to find out what kind, where it started and then back to him for treatment plans. Tiring day.
Sounds like Marie is in good hands. Rest when you can because you will need it. So glad you are getting the biopsies and PET scan and soon a treatment plan. Hugs!
