A few years back, I felt the urge to write poetry! Not all the normal rhyming kind, but the free range kind of poetry. I just began writing, and the ideas and words just flowed. It lasted a week or two, and then like a comet leaving our solar system, went away. Feel free to post your original poems here!

I have gone out on a limb and wrote a new poem today to launch this thread! Enjoy!

The Lockers in Our Life

In the days after we're born, we are proclaimed "Treasure"!
Its only later that we hear the word "Measure".

We become "home grown" living in the safety of "Home",
way too young to be ichin' to roam!

A dresser drawer becomes our first very own......"Locker"
Boys especialy yearn and learn to spit out a Hocker!

Next comes schools and rules along with book bags and learning "Tools".
Then assigned a "Locker". Remembering "Combo-nations" is not for fools!

As we progress, I must confess I kinda like the "safe place" feeling
a Locker brings, as I confess the feeling of having things.

At work my lockers were used to keep the clothes and things,
along with heavy boots and gloves....the kind of things a man loves.

Basic training took a sharp turn and placed a foot locker in my path.
It held perfection, on the day of inspection, that fast... I was on my way!

I hope on that day when I fly away, that I will cast my eyes
on my lockerless Home and see my heavenly treasures...and Prize!

A poem I wrote for my wife .

Remembering

As you stand there in your peaceful, graceful way .
As the wind blows through your hair , I am reminded
of the first day .

You came to me so sudden and so shy . When you
spoke to me , I had to ask myself why.

When you touched me on my face , I thought we were
once joined in another time, another place.

I could not believe that this was happening to me. Then
again with you it was was easy to understand you see.

You looked into my eyes and entered my heart and soul .
We became two into one , we became whole.

When you hold me tight I can feel the love you have
inside .You make me realize theres no need to hide ,
but to carry on with pride.

You give me the strength to go on , the power within .
You always show me the light , the way to begin.

So now when you touch me softly on the face , I can
remember back to that time and place , It was so many
years before , I was lost and nobody loved me , so I
imagined you opened the door .

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT SEEMS TO BE
09-20-25

IT HAS TAKEN A WHOLE LIFE TO BECOME A MAN.
NOT A COMPLAINER BUT AN EXPLAINER.
LIFE IS ONLY RAINING. I AM ONLY GAINING.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT SEEMS TO BE,
THAT A MAN’S SMILE ONLY LASTS A MILE.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT SEEMS TO BE,
THAT GOD IS ONE, AND THAT HE IS ALSO THREE,
AND RIGHT IN THEIR MIDST, STAND WE.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT SEEMS TO BE,
THAT A ‘RIGHT’ COMES ALONG
JUST WHEN YOU’VE HAD A RIGHT TO HAVE IT.

IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT SEEMS TO BE,
THAT A MAN IS FREE, TIL HE CEASES TO BE.
IT SEEMS TO ME THAT IT SEEMS TO BE

The following 11 poems are my original "String-Cheese" poems.

This Eternal spark JL©

…into this earth…a new birth will enter in. This Eternal spark within…when does it begin… to never end? You could say…that all who we are, has come our way…through the Eternal way.

How can our weak flesh contain…in the midst of sorrow and pain…this Eternal gain? O God, keep our mileaged feet …free of hopeless defeat, always true to you….on your Eternal Street.

…hark…we ourselves are harbingers of those who this very day are born into the day. And feel your eternal spark, within…a lark…as we begin again.

We yearn for that Eternal Day…when…in the midst of a breath… we welcome death to come our way. You act… and we find our way to You… our spark Eternally intact!

Nice poems Joe, I'll come back later and read the others.
