I have gone out on a limb and wrote a new poem today to launch this thread! Enjoy!
The Lockers in Our Life
In the days after we're born, we are proclaimed "Treasure"!
Its only later that we hear the word "Measure".
We become "home grown" living in the safety of "Home",
way too young to be ichin' to roam!
A dresser drawer becomes our first very own......"Locker"
Boys especialy yearn and learn to spit out a Hocker!
Next comes schools and rules along with book bags and learning "Tools".
Then assigned a "Locker". Remembering "Combo-nations" is not for fools!
As we progress, I must confess I kinda like the "safe place" feeling
a Locker brings, as I confess the feeling of having things.
At work my lockers were used to keep the clothes and things,
along with heavy boots and gloves....the kind of things a man loves.
Basic training took a sharp turn and placed a foot locker in my path.
It held perfection, on the day of inspection, that fast... I was on my way!
I hope on that day when I fly away, that I will cast my eyes
on my lockerless Home and see my heavenly treasures...and Prize!
