It's The 1970's... What Are You Doing?

1976, sitting with mom at the kitchen table.

Mom has her cup of coffee off to the left, her cigarette in the ashtray off to the right, and she's got the Sears catalog out. Sears has a baby sale on.

Cloth diapers are on for $6.99 a dozen, and rubber pants (6 pairs) for $1.99!

Mom is ordering 2 dozen diapers and 2 packages of rubber pants! She says the price can't be beat!

In the 70's I was getting used to the new decimal currency ( nightmare ). We just couldn't accept that we were NOT getting conned.
In the old pound there were 240 pennies.
In the new pound there were only 100.
I was never good at maths but even I could figure this just didn't add up .

I also went through puberty and fell in love every 2 seconds with lads at school who would never look at me twice by the way , so I was in perpetual heartbreak.

I babysat for the neighbours to earn a bit of pocket money and helped look after my younger siblings.

Got my first boyfriend in the 70's . My first love ( you can't count the little lad down the road who I hid in bushes with age 7 saying to each other "I'll show you mine if you show me yours " lololol )..

We could pass for sisters, Liz, having grown up in the same home together!

I babysat for neighbourhood moms all though the 70's, and also helped my mom care for my baby siblings, including babysitting them, too.
