I go to the library every two-three weeks and get a bunch of books. I have to get a lot because sometimes I get to page 10 and decide that I can't stand the author's writing style. Life's too short to read books you don't enjoy.....

My eyesight still allows me to read regular books and I have an appreciation for them, but Kindle or Kobo books are so much more convenient that most of my reading is in those formats.

My eyesight is the reason I seldom read books now.

I am reading a novel , police thriller, for entertainment, and I am also reading Dr. Bulsiewicz book, “Fiber Fueled” about the importance of fiber for our health , and even mental wellness.
I just went through the new May First Reads that Amazon sends me each month and picked out two of those for free to read.

I justt downloaded that today also, but have not started reading it yet. I love all of his books ! I especially like that he is from here in Huntsville, so I learn a bit of local history in each of his books that I read.

I'm going to have to find that at the library. I read "The Help", but that was one of the few times I liked the movie more than I liked the book. Usually, it's the other way around.

I read every day, even if it’s only for 30 minutes. Right now I am reading "The Happy Family" by Daniel Hurst; a psychological thriller. I read on my Kindle the majority of the time. I use my IPad to read, when I get a book from the Library. My local library does not support Paperwhite Kindles.

I'm currently reading "When No One Else Will" by Amanda Skenandore. It's a historial novel set in the late 1930's based on a true story of an illegal women’s clinic in Chicago. I have liked all of her other books she has written, as well.

The Talisman was a very good book, although it's been a while since I've read it. Black House, a sequel, was written long after, in 2001 (The Talisman was published in 1984). A third novel, Other Worlds Than These, hasn't been released yet. I haven't read the sequel.

I have tried reading Black House but I can't get into it. I started over at least 3 times after getting lost in the confusing storyline. I finally got annoyed and moved on to something less convoluted. I pre-ordered Other Worlds Than These which is coming out October 6 and now I'm thinking I should cancel that. Peter Straub died in 2022 so I wonder how much he contributed to the last book.

I just found a new series on Kindle (free in KU) about the San Juan Islands in the Pacific Ocean near Washington State. It is a mystery series, and I just got the first book and will start reading it later today.
Since I am from the PNW, I love reading books about Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and the western part of the US.

Our library is focused on kids and something I have not been able to figure out. The required physical age for cook books is 10 years plus. Do not ask for SciFi.

Lately, I've been reading a series of crime novels written with mediocre skill by someone I had never heard of before. Without half trying, I find spelling and grammatical errors in the text, and too often, I can figure out who did it long before the book reveals it. However, it is a series of more than a dozen books, and the only reasons I keep reading them are that they are free with Kindle Unlimited and that I have already invested in reading the first books in the series.

I am reading "The Younger Wife", by Sally Hepworth. It is a thriller and a Kindle Unlimited book. So far, not a bad read, but it is still early in the book. Before this book, I reread the book "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. I enjoyed it reading it again.
