Next door neighbor, longstanding attorney, 4th of July, junior picks up everything puts it in the trashcan and two hours later the whole neighborhood had another fire works. Took about two years to rebuild.
You cannot find a builder unless you know one and he owes you. The one reason we are not moving closer to SO’s local play dates.
 
We are now considering replacing our roof. It is 28 years old and part of it needs to be replaced but not necessarily all. One roofing estimator said to call the homeowners insurance company and ask if they will contribute to the replacement of older roofs to avoid larger claims later on. I had never heard of this , and we have not yet called the insurance company. Does anybody have any experience with this?

I had not heard of that. The last big hail storm damaged all of our roofs and two of them were in need of replacement before the storm. Insurance covered all as if it was all storm damage with total tear offs. I was finally pleased to have insurance.
 
, I have gotten a few notices that things are changing in our homeowners insurances especially with regards to roofs. Unless we pay more, they will not pay for replacement. They will prorate what they will do by the age of the roofs. I don't really blame them with the hail storms we've had but wish they would just proceed as they have been. We've already been overcharged for years with few claims.
 
I was at the verge of cardiac arrest. No claim in 25 years, everything bundled for 45 years and now the bill! At least deductible for a roof replacement is only 11k. Plus all vehicles have to have the same coverage. My garage queen got put on a monitor app for something like 20% discount. They are welcome to check my once a month 20 mile road trip.
