A small, “kinda” funny story.
My first week in Basic Training I was told to go on sick call and report to some doctor. When I got there I was informed that the tine test I took indicated that I probably had TB. Thanks to the clinicians “Dr. Boss” who looked at the x-rays instead of just the swelling at the test site said I only had some calcium deposits so no worries.

If the main Doctor hadn’t looked, I might have gotten bounced out of the military, isolated and maybe treated for TB.

Tony, I can only tell you how things went recently with my hip/spine issue. Kid glove treatment, conversations into details on my level of comprehension, physicians and PAs working so closely together that appointments were same or next day after being referred. No bill but $89 for selected local numbing for spinal injection. Now physical therapy is dealing with all to keep them and my PA updated on progress and future needs.

Your medical care facilities sound great. We are not so lucky locally here. My late husband was a physicians assistant back in the 70's. Between then and now is night and day. Our little hospital run by nuns is now a HUGE concern, My GP back then quit and bought a used car shop 20 years ago. I asked why and he said medicine wasn't 'fun' any more. This was an exceptional doctor, kind and concerned. Our hospital 'St Agnes' became 'St Agony' if you asked around. We stopped getting to see doctors and more often than not saw nurse practitioners. Some of those were better than the doctors anyway but it is a toss up. Some experiences are fine and some are definitely not.
I went out of town for my hip replacement and it went well but I did a LOT of research on doctors and hospitals first.

Mary, we are in fly over country. Forget looking for a decent grocery store but you can pick from good, reputable physicians.

I think the Tine test has been discontinued in favor of the PPD, a test with fewer false positives and easier to interpret. In any case, both tests only show if you have been exposed to TB. It takes a chest x-ray and other testing to confirm tuberculosis. Glad you didn't get bounced from the military if you wanted to be there.

Got the results today. They obviously believe that I’ll live another 6 months because the guy or gal who read the scan wrote that there are no changes but they recommend coming back to have another one in 6 months.
So, am I going to schedule to have the dear pulmonologist break it down for me? Oh heck no ! I read readin’ and can even write readin’ if’n I wants to so to me, I know what I need to know.

Unless my heart gives out or I get hit by a garbage truck, I should be around to say Merry Christmas.
