Healing as we grow older

My uneducated opinion on how to keep healing from slowing down as we age:

Keeping from losing muscle mass and tone is important. Your muscles are a shield and shock absorber that help protect you from serious injury.
Obviously tendon and bone strength play a similar role.

Ingesting enough protein and being able to process it properly goes a long way toward healing damage. An active metabolism speeds up healing significantly.

My go to injury medication is Absorbine Veterinary Liniment. Relieves pain, swelling and promotes healing. If it's good enough for horses, it's good enough for me;)

Obviously aging slows down healing. But the biggest problem is our lifestyle and physical activity slows down making it much worse. We just have to try a little bit harder as we age or give in and face the consequences.

I found a very good and caring physical therapist and sent SO to him as well. No pain management, no shots, still some pain for him but a clear path to the source. I crawled back to my truck at my last appointment. One day rest then as much as I can do at home. Eight weeks into it the difference is showing. Not fun but worth it.

I've noticed that my skin seems to be getting thinner and more fragile, especially on my arms and hands. Seems like the slightest bump causes a bruise or a cut or tear in my skin. I have two fairly gruesome looking "wounds" on my left forearm from repotting a palm tree a couple of days ago. I keep bumping them and they just don't heal very fast.

Amlaction will not work miracles but helps. You may want to look for gardening gators. I have taken to giving them as small thank you gifts and everyone loves them.

I know you are not into supplements but we need to increase the strength of our blood vessels and capillaries. I take bio-rutin and vitamin c for that. If I don't I aggravate a bleeding hemorrhoid . My chiro recently said I had the healthiest looking legs in her practice, vein wise.
I am no @Faye Fox but I have always had great looking legs from my mother.
I also take multi collagen for building tissues.
