May I just take this opportunity to explain the different spelling of the holiday.. The holiday, which is the festival of lights, lasts for 8 days.. The spelling of the holiday had 8 letters in it therefore it can be spelled...… HANUKKAH.... or CHANUKAH …. both are correct.. If you notice the candelabra (called a minora), has 8 candles with one a bit higher in the middle.. The candles are lit one every day at sunset for 8 days increasing by one more every day.. The centre one, (or higher one), is always lit first and it is a symbol of overlooking over the others.. It is with the higher one that we use to light the others.. CHANUKAH is a happy festival where we exchange gifts, have family gatherings, and (of course) indulge in a good meal.. However this year with the pandemic, all celebrations outside the home are cancelled, but we still light the candles and enjoy the festival among ourselves..

I'll chime in with my respect for the Festival of Lights, even though I'm not Kosher! My paternal Grandmother was a Hungarian Jew, so that makes me 1/4 Jewish, I guess. Incidentally, we all know how a proud Jewish father always brags about his son becoming a Doctor, saying "My Son the Doctor" whenever there's an opportunity in conversation. in 1962, Jewish comedian Allan Sherman recorded a comedy album of Folk Songs, all with Jewish themes on the original folk music. The album was called "My Son The Folk Singer". Go to YouTube and listen to "Shake Hands With Your Uncle Max, My Boy". Download it to the Forum if you can...it should get some laughs!
