Welcome Nicole from a Canadian living in Northern Ontario..
I have been on SOC for many years.. I don't remember when i started..
Lately I have been very busy getting the place here ready for winter and that is why I haven't been on here often..
I will be coming back as soon as I can finish the winter preparation........ Soon.....
At my age, it takes me all day to do what I used to do all day..........

I enjoy the games very much and I try to stay away from controversial topics..
No arguments, insults, or name calling on the games..

I wasn't arguing, just stating my opinion. I can see by some of the responses, that maybe I was wrong. Simple games aren't the death of a senior forum, but in fact breathes life in a small portion of it. I can see by some responses that some play games to avoid discussion, since many discussions end up in arguments. I can also see that this thread serves so some, but not all, gamers can do their daily socializing and avoid other threads in the other parts of the forum. It is great that those of the same interest can have their own place that is part of a bigger forum.

I am a bit puzzled why post made in games don't show up in member stats, but likes they get do. I was puzzled how someone can have 5,000 likes and only make 200 post. Why do post not count, but reactions do? I remember on the old forum, gamers would make 50,000 post for 5,000 likes. While that seemed unfair to some, it was an accurate accounting of what was transpiring. I think either both stats should show, or neither, otherwise it is a false number that overshadows all those that post in other parts of the forum. Just my opinion, but no worries to anyone, my opinion is like a very small duck farting on Lake Superior.

If you care about a high likes number, then games is the place to be, but never post anything that others won't agree with or won't like. :ROFLMAO:

I wasn't insulting anyone and certainly didn't intent to make anyone angry. Anger is not healthy. With that I leave you to your games.

Because I have control over one and not the other. I wish that members wouldn't abuse the reactions part of the forum because I do understand that it can be an irritant when people simply tag one another. I had hoped that this wouldn't become something that would have to be monitored, largely because this can't become a full-time job for me, and I don't want to have to remove the ability of all or specific members to post reactions.

I wasn't going to do a post...write something but since I'm pretty sure it's me your talking about regarding reaction scores I shall reply !

Not all my reaction scores are from the games section ... I have been active in the other parts also . I like doing a heart to say (luv the photo) or laughing emoji to say (that is funny) etc! How else will the person know his/her photo or comment was liked /enjoyed.
I do not feel that I or any one else Abused the reaction emojis. Especially not on purpose

What is next , too many times posting ! I posted a lot of times in the Good morning/Good night thread with maybe a few members posting afterwards .Not even a like to say they saw it .....could it be they didn't notice . I don't think so. I should stop ! Well I tried

In the games chat area someone always responded ....I appreciate it a lot ...thank you

I enjoyed and had a lot of fun playing the games ! It gave me a break from thinking of all the stress I have & everything else !

I really enjoyed parts of the site ...IDK I shall see !

Should I go play some games .... it feels awkward now to do reactions to a post that I like !

Thanks for explanation. It makes no difference to me anymore, but I do know some that put a lot of thought and work in posting threads and replies and find it discouraging that someone that plays games and makes multiple quick one word post a day and only get one, maybe two likes per post, has an insanely high ratio of likes per post, because the post don't count in games.

I see the system of post don't count, but reactions do, in the game section, as a diversity and inclusion train of thought. It isn't known that a Notable Member made 50K post to get 5K likes, just that they are notable for getting 5K likes with only 500 post, making them look more liked and notable than those that put effort and thought into their post.

Personally I don't care, but thought this should be pointed out. Please don't waste any time on it.
 
Can we please - everyone - just stop the arguing. I never asked for a full-time job as a playground monitor in an elementary school, nor can I allow this to be a full-time job. If something causes too much of a problem, I'll get rid of it, but I hate to remove a feature that some people like just because some people decide to abuse it. I believe that I can disable the reaction system altogether, but there is nothing in the software that can be used to determine the validity of a reaction when someone clicks it. I am pretty sure that I can disable the ability of specific members to use it, but I'd rather not have to do that. However you want to measure it, reciprocal clicking of likes is an abuse of the system because it negates something that shouldn't be a big deal to everyone, but which many of us like to look at from time to time. It's silly, it's wrong, and it's divisive.

Meanwhile, please stop arguing about this here. If you think something is wrong, report it so that the other greeters and I can look into it. Such arguments in the public forum simple exacerbates the divisiveness.
