Carpenters use a chalk line to get a straight line. Very common for sheet rock work. It is a string that has chalk on it. Both ends are held and the line is pulled up and snapped, making a straight line over a long distance. So your mom was saying to walk a very precise straight line and for a long distance. When my mother was mad at any of us kids, she'd say, "You'd better walk a chalk line!" I always wondered what the hell that meant but I could tell by her tone it wasn't a joke, haha.
Oh, I understand all that now, I just didn't have a clue when I was 8.Carpenters use a chalk line to get a straight line. Very common for sheet rock work. It is a string that has chalk on it. Funny that I never put 2 and 2 together, since I played with my dad's chalk line many of times as a kid. He was a handy carpenter and I dragged his tools around. I particularly liked making holes in things with an old-timey hand drill.Ok, sorry about being a smarty pants!![]()
Also in my own defense, this foot fungal thing as discussed in my thread, The Fungus Among Us, has me behaving badly.Oh, I understand all that now, I just didn't have a clue when I was 8.![]()
Y'all @Beth Gallagher @Marie Mallory can laugh about it, but it is serious business and has me worried. I wish my friend had never seen the article ad by Dr. Shitz. something like Shitzabob, but I took the liberty to shorten it. Read my thread and I think you will understand. Again as so many times in my life, I have no one to blame but myself. Old age is ripping me a new one.
I was making light of it, I am just messing with y'all! No apology necessary, unless I need to make one.Faye, sorry I didn't mean to be rude, I thought you were making light of it. I do that sometimes when I have trouble with my illness's. Like this squat injury, I've made jokes at times, but it sure isn't funny.

The foot problem is real and I was making a joke about it. If you read my thread about it, you will see why I must not get too serious about it. I am doing the Epson salt soak as we converse. From what the doctor told me before, it is hard to get rid of. So far I have tried every thing I can find including treatments that have bad reviews. I read that it is hard for folks our age to get rid of. It is better to laugh about such crap, than cry.I'm sorry about your foot problem, Faye. As Marie said, I saw your "laughing emoji" and thought you were making a joke so I apologize for the misunderstanding.
