Decluttering in our homes

I’ve been on a real good kitchen cupboards / sewing room / my bathroom / my everyday cloths, and a few items of clothing in my dancing cloths wardrobe
Declutter ….👏👏👏🥳🥳🥳it feels good

I’ve been to the Op shop twice this week , delivering huge candy striped bags of stuff to them as well as other larger stuff like a big clear glass biscuit barrel that hubs bought for me in 1988 along with matching glass tea / coffee / glass canisters they all had gumnuts / green leaves and made out of some sort of clay type material
that had been baked . ( they had cork lids )
At the time I had a country look kitchen dresser in a very light colour pine wood and the items suited the kitchen ( I’ve still got a kitchen dresser in the dining room , but not that one )

So anyone else been decluttering ? My kitchen cupboards are looking heaps better after removing 3 big cardboard boxes of unused clutter 👏👏🥳🥳

@Kate Ellery - decluttering does lighten your mood, and creates changes in other areas. I still am trying to get rid of more stuff. Mark comes from line of 'save it might need it someday people ..sigh,It complicates things at times.
What is worse, Hubby and I both come from that line. I want to get rid of all of his stuff and he wants to get rid of all of MY stuff. I pack up a box or bag to take to St Vincent De Paul and come home with two. But it seems the house is a little more roomy than it was a couple of years ago.

I am not a pack rat and there is space in every closet. SO’s play dates started with a wooden Army ammo box painted blue. It progressed to a closet, a room then as add on a double garage. When it took over part of the backyard and moved onto the kitchen island I objected. That is not tools for house or garden. But he capitulated and tried on everything in the clothes/shoe department. No tears when half of it left.

I am generally not a pack rat either. I am always taking stuff to the Goodwill or some other donation store. I try to sneak one thing of my husband's old clothing into the box every time I decide to take a box of goods. It is usually something that he hasn't worn in years; or a shirt that I don't like on him. 🤫Once in a blue moon, he might ask about a specific shirt or a pair of pants. I will tell him that "HE" said that it didn't fit anymore, or “HE” didn't like it, or it just plain wore out. 😁 He has a pair of ratty house slippers that needs to be thrown away that he won't let go. 😖 I wish I had a dog for those kind of sneaky jobs.:sneaky: 😇

I bargain, ask him to try the new ones, oops coffee, … .

Over the years, and having helped clear out several relatives homes after they passed, I can promise I am still ( after 2 or 3 years) de-cluttering my house .
I don't want my kids to have to spend months doing it after me and husband are gone.
I look everything and ask the following questions :

A) Is it valuable ?
B) Does it have sentimental value ?
C) Would any of the kids want it after we're gone ?

If the answer to all is NO , then it goes out.
And yes, it makes me feel so much better.
Very liberating .
