Thankfully only the back half was in the bale; it had evidently been chopped with the mow bar — this was in the early mid-60’s when the small farmers were still using side bar cutters.
The look on the neighbor’s face when he said drop it NOW, I knew why.
My area had so many Mississauga Swamp Rattlers, there was a bounty on them for the venom. About 15 years ago I learned they are on the endangered list![]()
We had 2 young men here a couple years ago hunting rattler snakes for anti venom. Said good money in it.
